Favorite Period/Topic?
It's a bit slow in here, so I'm going to propose a topic!

What's everyone's favorite period or topic in relation to the Middle Ages?

Religions? Wars? Mythology? Arthurian Legends? Holy Roman Empire, or Byzantine? Celts, or Vikings? What about the "New World" in the medieval period (i.e. St. Brendan, or Lief Erikson)? What about clothing styles? Are you a re-enactor? Are you interested in the time period as a whole?

Again, feel free to make a post introducing yourself, or just post asking for new friends if you're looking! Since the community is still new and small, it's okay to drift off-topic or make one-liner posts. As we grow and if traffic increases, I might put a stop to that, but for now it's fine :)

I'm kinda a bit of everything :)

My favorite periods would have to be Arthurian Legends, Vikings & just Knights and Kings in general from that period. One of the other things that interest me a lot is Jousting.

I'm not a re-enactor, but I love going to the Medieval Faires! ^_^

Textiles, Celts, Vikings, the "New World" and some of the writings from the period.

I play in the SCA, but I also do re-enacting in later periods (mostly eighteenth century). I like doing reading more than research and hope to get pointed to interesting articles by other members as the group grows.

Arthuriana! ♥ And Celtic stuff in general. I'm also really intrigued by the possibility that the Welsh Prince Madoc and his followers may have ended up in the Americas at some point.

Though actually, the thing about the Middle Ages--and any period in history, for that matter--is how the people really lived then. Clothing, speech, relationships of different kinds, daily life for different classes, what they ate... Maybe it's because I'm a writer, but it just fascinates me.

Heresy, Mendicant orders, the crusades and kindom of Jerusalem, and Christian/Muslim relations in the middle ages.

I enjoy reading how the people lived - what they wore; what they ate; how religion intersected with their lives.
Also I'm interested in the legal systems of both Saxon and later Norman, and the Danelaw.
Celtic mythology.
Monks and monasteries. Everything thing to do with the Dark Ages through to the Middle Ages, really.
I'm not participating in RPGs, or writing about the period - it's more of a general interest, and something I enjoy reading about.

I like almost every thing about the period but espically castles, reliogion and myths from that time.

I'm actually much more interested in what went on in my local area, rather than a specific topic, although I do enjoy learning about pretty much all of it anyway.

My favorite topics are Irish mythology, and women in religion. I adore Margery Kempe, and want to do some work on marriage and Christina of Markyate.
