Merry Smutmas, [info]sansa1970!

To: [info]sansa1970
From: [info]nqdonne

Title: The Potter Files
Rating: NC-17
Pairings: Harry/Draco, Harry/Teddy Lupin (minor), Harry/Zacharias Smith (minor)
Disclaimer: All characters are property of J.K. Rowling and Bloomsbury Inc. Other concepts and likenesses belong to the creators of The Dresden Files (books and TV show).
Summary: Private investigator, wizard, thorn in many people's sides. Harry Potter's a jack of all trades.
Warnings: AU, plucky first person narrative, non-major (aka: minor OC) character death, accidental bottom!Harry :P Kinks include first-time, rough sex, dirty talk, rimming, wall sex and shower sex.
Author's notes: This is a weird AU amalgamation of post-DH HP canon and The Dresden Files, where I've picked and chosen the elements of HP to keep/change, the most obvious being that Malfoy = Muggle/Murphy. It's a strange mix of things you seem to like, [info]sansa1970 - detective fiction, Snape as a featured character and your fabulous list of kinks. The rest I kind of guessed at, and I hope you like it! You don't have to know The Dresden Files to follow, though those who do should recognise quite a few things :D

Fantastic story. You kept them all perfectly in character, even Draco as a Muggle. Your Teddy broke my heart, but Snape's ghost made it all better again ;)

Brilliant - very sexy, but a great read even without the smutty bits. I was genuinely surprised when Smith revealed what he'd done to his victims, evne though I had been kind of suspecting he had something to do with everything. I loved it - great job!

Oh, I love this!! My two favorite wizards melded into one! I loved seeing Snape as Bob, and Draco in Murphy's place. I liked all the details, like Harry having no food in his fridge, and the bell over the door. Nice job blending in elements of both worlds!!

I am regretfully not familiar with The Dresden Files, but this was a delightful read nonetheless. However, there was one bit that gave me pause. I don't believe a werewolf has the power to cast spells under the full moon, Wolfsbane potion or not, so how could Gabriel cast an Unforgivable? While the distraction was genius, the method was lacking.

Uh.... I'm grinning like an idiot. This was great! So hot, so plotty, so original! My only beef is that I want to know why Draco is AU when no one else seems to be. Oh wait, I guess Smith was, too. So... a bit of red herring, that- for me, anyway. But whatever, you amply made up for it with your wit and HOT SEX. YAY!!!

I think this is the very first AU fic with a major Wizarding world character not being a wizard that I've ever read through to completion. And I liked it!!! XD

Actually, that's not quite accurate... I loved it!

This story kept me caught my interest from the first paragraph, and kept hold of it until the very end. I loved all of your characterizations. Snape was fabulous, and the interaction between him and Harry was brilliant! Simply and utterly brilliant. And Draco was also absolutely wonderful as well.

And the Teddy storyline. So sad and so well done! I have to say I was a bit concerned about the Harry/Teddy note in the header, but you handled it beautifully.

Overall, well done, thank you for sharing this lovely fic!

Oh, that was just amazingly entertaining! Wow. It sucked you in and didn't let you go.

I loved the characterizations. You nailed all three of them. And the unlikely Draco as a Muggle completely worked because he was Draco.

Very well done.

I really, really enjoyed this, a merging of the Dresden Files and Harry Potter, my two favourite wizards. It was very cleverly done and I loved Snape as Bob and Draco as Murphy. Thank you for a very enjoyable read.

What a pleasure to read. I kept imagining Harry with a fedora and a trench coat and he looked good. The Snape Harry interactions were so funny and entertaining, so now I wonder how the 3 of them will get along.
Great job and thanks for sharing.

This is such a delightful read! Draco is utterly himself here, even without the pureblood ideology and all the stuff one associates with him being someone with a magical upbringing. And Harry is wonderful; he really does want to be a good godfather to Teddy, and I love the Harry/Teddy moments -- sometimes awkward, sometimes poignant.

I adore ghost!voyeur!Snape! I guess rearranging porn does have its uses to save one's partner in the end *g*

Thank you, Mystery Author!

i didn't read this at first because harry/teddy really squicks me, but there were so many recs i decided to give it a go. in actuality, there really isn't any harry/teddy in this fic, just some appreciation for young bodies and a confused youth [*shrugs*]

anyway, i'm really glad i read this as it is pretty fabulous. i love the whole pi/di relationship and the fact that malfoy really did want sex all along. brill. ♥

Dresden Files was re-arranged perfectly, references made my smile but I wonder at something else: why did you use Geoff Ryman's name as one of the characters? Or is it accidental?

Loved this story, even though I am not familiar with the Dresden Files. I heard Alan Rickman's voice whenever your Snape spoke.
I do want to know what happens to Teddy though, so I guess you'll have to write a sequel. ;-)

I didn't really get where the AUness of this AU comes from and I have no idea about The Dresden Files but I enjoyed the story: the mystery, the sex (wonderful and not romanticised), the storytelling manner, the magical/Muggle stuff, ghost!Snape who liked to watch and eavesdrop :). Thank you very much!

PS: there are a couple of things you might want to fix when you repost it. A few commas as address separators are missing in a place where they change the meaning ("Oh, I'm sure you are Malfoy." and a couple more). And this thing: "and without the ability to cast an Expecto Patronum" -- it should be "Patronus charm" 'cos Expecto Patronum is the incantation, I'm calling a protector. But that's nitpicking a willing perfection on a good thing :)

I tried to post this comment when I finished this story at 3am this morning but my lovely dial-up access was being a bitch but I just had to come back to comment this morning.

I loved this! Have no idea what the Dresden Files are that everyone keeping talking about in the comments but you really made this story interesting, lots of twists and lots of fun. It was also interesting to have all of the magical community be the same (as far as I could tell) but have Draco be a Muggle. I enjoyed the AU aspects of his character a lot.

Can't wait for the big reveal to find out who you are so I can read more of your stuff!

absolutely fantastic!
I loved the private dick feel (even though I don't know Dresden Files). The narrative is great, the story sucks you in. I loved that even though it's AU, you still kept quite a bit of canon characters and plot points intact. Oh and the sex was HOT. Truly a great read.

This was so fun! The first-person POV was wonderfully chatty and funny, and I really liked ambiguouslygay!Muggle!Draco. Your Snape absolutely stole the show though -- I adored the part where he mustered up all his energy to push the send button. ♥

I also really appreciated the sex in this one -- it's always nice to see sex scenes that seem real rather than idealized.

Nice work, mystery author!

I loved the story. I love long stories if they are interesting enough. This one was. Snarky Snape as a ghost was wonderful, and Draco seemed very real. After reading other comments I wish I knew the Dresden Files.
