Love the setting. (You must have visited it at some time.) Love Ron's continuual need to reassure himself. Really liked the prohibition on the use of magic. Ron needs to use his brain in this story. Felt sorry for Draco, who is harmless and self-mutilating in a way I think only a pure-blood could self-mutilate. It's sad and yet kind. Love the last line.

Oh, I love the narrative construction in this story! The way it all kind of comes together in a sad way at the end, and the perfect, hurried characterization of Ron! Also, the setting is way cool, kind of a like a Dear John letter to Seoul.

Absolutely stunning. And hot, and intense, and carefully written. I love your characters, the plot was original and I could actually feel the Asian atmosphere. Thank you for this wonderful story!

Absolutely brilliant.

Considering I live in Korea myself for 20+ years, reading this made me realised just how a foreigner might truly take the country I consider home. I mean the whole confusing subway line thing is definitely daunting, even daunting for my younger self when I didn't really ride the subways.

And the taxis. Seoul Yeok, Gwanghwamun... GUH.

I'm just glad you did not mention Itaewon in here!!!

Very well done story. I've never been to Seoul, but it was a great setting--just the extreme difference between where they were and home. I liked how open you left the ending.

Ooooh, yummy! This is a pairing I don't usually read, but the setting intrigued me. I love fics that take the characters out of the UK, and this was really well done. (I've never been to Korea, though I've been to other Asian countries and so it all felt very authentic to me.)

I really liked the slow reveal here, the fact that even at the end Ron was uncomfortable with what was happening between them, but kept going because he didn't know what else to do. Both of them seemed like very real extensions of who they are in canon. Great fic!

I really liked the tone of this, of Ron having something to prove (to others, to himself). The idea of Malfoy wanting to forget and of being unable to resist his attraction to Ron. Cool story.

The tone is very different from what I've read and is infused with confusion. I feel confused and surreal, like I'm missing something -- just like Ron.

"I'm not praising it. You're not going to see me wearing leather trousers any time soon—" Malfoy gestures to a couple as they pass "—but considering my … circumstances… it seemed necessary. It's become habit."

A nod to leather pants!Draco? :D

Ron's trailing after Draco and not understanding why seems realistic to me. And amusing. Self-denial!Ron seems rather accurate, even with Ron/Hermione in canon.

Marvelous! I loved the setting, both the way you evoked it and the way its strangeness helped keep Ron off balance. The idea of Draco obliviating himself is heartbreaking, and the ending is gorgeous.

Sorry to do this anonymously, but I've just been linked here from LJ (I'm kellygreen over there) and I don't have an IJ account. I moved to Seoul four months ago, and when I saw the title of this fic I laughed so hard, as did the last line. Kimchi is definitely an acquired taste, just as I am sure Draco Malfoy would be.

You've done such an excellent job capturing the atmosphere of Seoul. The first line, about the first thing Ron notices is the heat, is exactly the first thing I noticed as I stepped off the plane and hopped into the car that took me to my new home. Plus I just loved reading about Ron experiencing things that I myself I'm still just experiencing for the first time. It made it very easy to feel like I was right there with him (save for the fact that I don't have the Malfoy Heir to show me around...maybe I'll see him at the clubs in Apgujeong this weekend lol).

Anyway, Ron/Draco is a bit of a kink for me, and it was fabulous to see it set in the brand new home I love so much. Cheers!

What a great story! I loved the setting, filled with so many knowledgeable details - I sense you've lived in Seoul yourself? Or done some research! It really brought it to life. The chemistry between Ron and Draco was very nicely done as well - perfect antagonism giving way to passion! And I really liked the Memory charm twist; it nicely explained why Draco wasn't a bit more antagonistic. Although I also liked that even without Draco's firm memories of Ron, they take to arguing right away! Very cool story, and oh, did I mention the shower!sex? *melty*

This fic was so brilliant, I. I barely even know what to say. And that's the worst kinda feedback when the reader is all "DUH, ME SPEECHLESS, HURR HURR", but like. Honestly. The amount of times I wanted to copy lines, scramble down to 'Post a New Comment' and paste, but the story. I couldn't stop reading.

Right from the beginning, you got me. I LOVE your style of writing so much; that acerbic, wry, ironic style that's neither too serious nor too funny and just so incredibly perfect for the relationship of Ron and Draco in EVERY SINGLE WAY.

I love LOVE how you identified Ron as the widely-discussed canon!Ron of "is he useless, or isn't he? What the hell is is purpose in the Trio, anyway?" and incorporated all of that into of all things, Korea.

I love Draco's snide reference to leather pants.

I love that Ron follows Draco into the bathroom not because it's his job, or he's turned on but simply because he doesn't want to be alone. Oh god. This really broke my heart in a million pieces, because it's EXACTLY why I love Ron and why I can so empathize with him.

I love that Draco leaves, Ron follows. Always. Ron needs to follow, and again, this is totally tearing my heart with love. I wanna cry, I love this so much.

And the sex? GYAH OMG I haven't been this MMMMMMMMMDROOLFACE when reading a fic in like, a long, long time. I was severely disappointed that they didn't do The Deed and yet I knew that it was so right that it didn't happen. Because. Yes.

I love. I really do! *flails* I need to express how much AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

The style really worked well for this narrative -- descriptions that obscure as much as they illuminate, echoing Ron's own confusion. Self-obliviating Draco... I felt sorry for him, and I could see why Ron would fall into this.

Very careful, very quiet, very intense. Much love for this - there's care in every sentence, every word you've used, every ounce of characterisation and interaction and description. The atmosphere is fantastic, and above all this is unique not only because of all of these things, but too because of the way you play with magic and a post-war setting. I love that you've gone to Asia - the fact that this is Very Far From Home resonates with the characters so perfectly. *sighs in bliss*

Much love for this, dear mystery author!

This is really beautiful and sad. I have a guess as to who wrote it, heh.

I've not read slash like this before. It has a realistic quality and honesty about the character's psychology that was as refreshing as it was heart breaking.

Wonderfully written, so evocative of both images and emotions. I could see and taste South Korea so clearly. I really want some kimchi now.

(Here, by way of Glockgal's great art post for this story :))

You did a fantastic job in setting the mood/premise for this story.
Ron's befuddlement and sense of being at a loss (in his life, not just in a strange, exotic land) really came across in the early sections of the story.
I wish we found out how Draco ended up in Korea, but I understand and appreciate that this story is all about Ron's pov -- a fantastic series of impressions of this almost dream-like stay in Seoul, which might just change his view of the world, and of himself, a bit :)

(I love stories set in Exotic Locations btw. I've never been to Seoul but have flown through Inchong airport a few times, and I adore Korean food -- you've made me want to fit in a stopover next time!)

OMG.

(here via glock as well)

This is SUCH a wonderful fic. I love nothing more than a fic that just puts me somewhere else, and this is definitely one of those!! Yay for well-researched writing of a place (or, you know, writing from experience, heh). Gahh, so much love. And dear, dear Ron. ♥ His characterization is just...OH just so much love. I echo what Glock said about it--he just makes me all weepy and filled up with the urge to hug him. :x *sigh*

Wonderful, gorgeous work.

Oh, very nice! I like Draco's use of the memory charms and how it explains the slight difference in him. And I love that Ron chooses to keep the memories. I can feel for Ron, being thrown into such a different environment, and totally understand how he sort of clung to Malfoy. Wonderful job at creating Seoul for us - feels as though you've been there.

That was a very enjoyable read, and I'm usually not a fan of 'characters meet in exotic Muggle world locations' plots. But your depiction of Korea worked so well, especially seeing its, well, 'alien-ness' through Ron's eyes. I loved how much he felt out of his depth, and the way it makes him bind himself to Draco as the one familiar thing.

Gorgeous plot, too - the change in Draco was explained in an extremely effective way (I loved the way Crabbe's death keeps haunting him, it's so very much in keeping with that scene in DH).

And I adored the ending - that it's not (or at least not obviously) the beginning of an epic romance, but that their encounter changes both (and their perspectives on life) in a calm and gentle way. A lovely, atmospheric fic!

This was fantastic! I don't know how I missed out on commenting when I first read it, but I'm certainly glad I came back to check (and read it again!).

I love the flow of this, the easing into a tentative and reluctant friendship. Draco's fear of his memories is so understandable, and who would want to live with a constant reminder of all he's seen?

Brilliantly told!

But I don't want to be a downer, I just wanted to apologize for waiting until the last minute to review this wonderful, brilliant story.

There are really so many things that I love about it. Korea! Ron! Draco! :D SHOWER SEX! OMG there is just so much love all over the place. And I love the plot and how Draco uses memory charms and then at the end when Ron goes home I'm just... all flaily because I really want him to stay but he needs to go home.
