JUNE 16 1998: THE DAILY PROPHET.
DIAGON ALLEY UNDER ATTACK by MAVERICK U. AMERINUS
An attack yesterday afternoon on the Dizzy Witch Café in Diagon Alley has caused three serious casualties. While two of the victims have been admitted to St. Mungo's with serious burns, one remains under constant Healer supervision due to the extreme extent of his injuries. Everyone else present at the café during the attack managed to escape with minimal hurts, and the fire was eventually doused with the help of several passers-by. The café, however, has suffered considerable damage, as did the adjoining shops among which is the Leaky Cauldron.
Witnesses have seen a man entering the café around four o'clock, where, according to those present, he proceeded to set it alight. Other articles of note include:
- TERROR CONTINUES [cont'd]. Speculation of who could be responsible for the recent attacks leads to the suspicion some of Voldemort's followers must have escaped justice. More doubt is raised about Minister Shacklebolt's qualifications, and the tone of the article is decidedly negative.
- FRESH FACES AT HOGWARTS. Transfiguration, Astronomy, DADA, Muggle Studies and Arithmancy professor positions are open at Hogwarts, and anyone interested is urged to get in touch with Headmistress Minerva McGonagall.
- MORE DEATH EATERS BEHIND BARS. Details on the trials of Augustus Rookwood and Thorfinn Rowle, and the results of both their trials.
- TRIALS A SHAM! On the Letters Page a witch from Ashford, Kent complains about the way the Ministry is rushing through the Death Eater trials and accuses them of being mock trials only set up to justify punishment.
