[ the room suddenly fills with a soft white glow, and there's a ball of swirling white light hovering just above Merlin's outstretched hand. He smiles, pleased at having mastered something he'd first performed while unconscious, and sets the ball to float over his head ]
[ he hasn't really had a full night's sleep, but now that he's awake, he's hungry, and there had been little food to eat yesterday. He leaves his room and makes for the kitchen area, more confident now he has his own personal light source. He'll just take his chances of running into Uther, and make something up, if he did. No one else seemed to care about magic use, here, anyway ]
[ hopeful that the stores had been restocked, he is both happy and puzzled when he opens the door of the cold-box (he's sure it had another name, but can't remember it) to see a very limited range of items; but hundreds of them, all packed in haphazardly. He picks up something that looks like it might be meat and bread, and sniffs at it. His nose scrunches, definitely not meat and bread, at least not as he knows it ]
