one ♫ video ⇛ open.
[ quinn stares at the pamphlet for a moment, skimming the pages, then tosses it aside like it was a piece of trash she'd picked up by mistake. ]

If this is some sort of freshman hazing, I've seen better. [ like how the football team used to trap artie in the porta-potties. ] I've done better. [ things she'd rather not think about; that's not her anymore. ] I'm not impressed, and I'm not joining whatever sorority you're trying to recruit for. My answer's no, so you can let me out now.

I've got orientation in an hour and if I miss, I won't hesitate to turn you and everyone else involved in this to campus police.

[ the voice itself is unsettling, but this person is at least being nice and-- ]

Criminals. [ she sniffles through her tears. ] Murderers. He-- [ cain. ] He said there were people like that here. I know this is a prison, but I don't-- I don't belong here. I haven't done anything!

[ things were good. she got through high school, came to terms with giving up beth, and learned to love herself. she'd even learned to walk again and managed to dance at nationals after her car accident. things were supposed to stay good for a change. ]

I did.

Oh... I'm a highschool sophomore. Um, was, I guess.

[flipping this to private in case Quinn gets upset. Painwheel's definitely made an embarrassing emotional mess of herself on public feed before, so...]

You're right. You probably didn't do anything. Sometimes people are put here for really petty crimes, while others... are more extreme, like Cain's said.

[there's something about Quinn that pulls at something tender and nostalgic in Painwheel—probably the blond hair and talk of school.]

If anyone bothers you, let me know; I'll be sure to set them straight, okay? I'm pretty strong.

Sophmore year was-- [ she was pregnant. she lost her spot on the cheerios. she-- thinking about that won't do any good, and she's come to terms with all that. ] A roller coaster ride for me. High school's not exactly the most pleasant experience, if TV and my own experiences have taught me anything.

[ the way quinn dresses in that wholesome sort of way with her flower print dress, saddle shoes, and the headband keeping her hair out of her eyes probably adds to that. ]

Oh, really?

It wasn't so bad, for me. I guess I had my own problems and issues with people and things like that, but... it all seems so simple, now. It's so far away and weird, like something I must have made up.

You had it better than I did.

...Probably, at least back then.

["had" definitely being the keyword.]

I think I took it for granted. Did things at least get better for you?

Sort of. They got better, then they got worse, but they got better again.

I guess... that's maybe just how it is.

I try to look at it as a learning experience. The things I went through... they taught me a lot about myself and I like to think I'm a better person because of it.
