[Action | Open] Just before lights out
[As the chilly day ends in the dome, maybe you happen to be outdoors. Or maybe glancing casually out a window, just before "sunset". A strange light flashes, just on the periphery of your vision -- or perhaps just outside of view. Difficult to say, really. Was it even really there?]

[If you don't take notice, another flash, this one appearing opposite the first, to the right if the first was left. Even someone not terribly perceptive will probably get the impression that someone is watching you. Then a strange sound, on the very edge of perception, so faint you may have imagined it -- a chime?]

[Another streak of light, closer now, as if it's becoming impatient.]

***
((OOC: This can be anywhere in the dome where one can see outside, just indicate in your tag!

Due to Chris's abilities, please fill out this SUPER QUICK permissions post so I'll know how to respond to your tags! Thanks <3 ))

[ he does become aware the first time. spark of imagination or not mattered little, when a boy like alois trancy is so certain he's seen something he won't change his mind about it. he's held out for a fairy for so long, mysterious glimmers (probably mischievous sunlight for us realists) sneaking under carnation petals immediately attract his attention.

this bit of light and chime is no different. he's looking in the direction, now, that he thought he'd seen it. round eyed and with air caught in his throat. 'Please, be a fairy,' is what he's thinking, because he always, always, thinks it.

—and, that second streak, closer this time, and it takes a lot in him not to burst across the ground toward. though he does rise up on his toes excitably, and gasps. he also has to resist temptation to run away from it, not out of fear, but to gather claude and bring him back to see it. there was definitely a fucking light.

[A fairy, is it?]

[The light comes from behind this time, low over the blond boy's shoulder, but when it's a handful of yards in front of him, the light slows, lingering in midair. There, it takes on the vague form of a miniature person.]

[And then it's off again, streaking around the corner of a building.]

[ first a flinch, next quickened heartbeat as he watches, and then it skips one when the light takes the shape of a tiny human.

for a half minute, he stands looking rather stupefied at the place it had only just been floating. then, he's bolting after it.

[The light's no longer shaped like anything, but it's moving too fast to really tell. Around one corner, then the next, always just slow enough to keep the boy chasing it.]

[Around one last bend, there's no more light to chase, but there's a strange flash that seems to come from all around. And then, a strange groaning sound.]

[Laying on his back, his head propped against a building, is a blond boy, looking around 12 years old, dressed all in blue. He's pale, and other than a slight twitch, he's not moving.]

[The strange fairy-light is nowhere to be seen.]

[ Kohran is up late, getting things together around in the apartment she just moved into. She takes a moment to open the window to air the place out as the room tends to get a little stuffy.

The first flash of light, she didn't mind so much -- must be the glare of lights on her glasses. When it happens again, however, she glances toward that opposite direction -- was there a firefly by her window? She rubs at her eyes momentarily, until her sharp hearing catches the sound of a chime, and that strange feeling...

She looks behind her, thinking that's where the sound may have come from. ]

Uh... hello?

[The reply comes in the form of another flash of light, this one seeming to come from above her. The light pauses several yards in front of her, at about eye level, taking on the vague form of a miniature person.]

[The "arm" of the figure points, off to the left.]

[And then it's off again, zooming toward where it pointed and around a corner.]

[ She makes a surprised noise upon seeing the light-person -- is this magic?? she muses. ]

[ She blinks confusingly for a bit at the pointing, but upon seeing it bolt towards the pointed the direction, she goes right after it! ]

Aa-- w-wait!

[ Grabbing a coat and hurriedly putting it on. Must not lose sight of it! ]

[She won't lose sight of it, but it may seem as though she could with the way she seems to just barely keep up with it. Each time she spots it, it's bouncing off around another corner, just slow enough to keep her following.]

[ She picks up her pace along the way, careful not to trip. When she fears might have missed it, she hears the boy.

Why is he here? Where did the light go? Not entirely sure, but she would be cruel if she didn't take notice of him. She thinks he might be sick.

After catching her breath for a bit, she approaches, calling out first -- ]

E-excuse me...

[ She'll crouch down beside him, looking him over -- is he at the least dressed properly for the cold weather? ]

Hello-- are you okay?

[The light all over the dome -- or at least, everywhere that Kohran can see -- seems to brighten slightly, then dim. The boy looks up at her, his one visible eye an unnatural ice blue.]

[He smiles kindly, but says nothing.]

((OOC: he's not actually glowing at the moment, despite the icon. ^^;;; ))

[ The amplified glow of the lights around her were hard to ignore -- what with the shadows getting into play. She looks around quickly, but vaguely, muttering to herself. ]

Is Acumen-han having problems again...?

[ She brings her attention back to the boy. The smile is a good sign. She paws around her neck, looking for a scarf, only to find a hastily tied shawl instead. ]

You'll get cold this way.

[ Pulling the shawl off, she will take to wrapping it about his shoulders if he is amenable to it. ]

Are you-- are you lost?

[He shakes his head slowly, rattling the hoop earrings he's wearing -- the only adornment to his otherwise plain blue clothing.]

[He smiles again, touching the hem of the shawl with his fingertips, as if fascinated by it.]

[ Oh good. He can understand her... ]

Do you want to get inside?

[ She looks around -- she's thinking of taking him to the Shelter, or maybe even the Hospital, whichever public building is nearest.

The shawl is soft and thin, but holds much warmth thanks to it being made of goatswool. ]

[ Looks to where he's pointing -- ] Ah! Alright--

[ Kohran takes a moment to button her coat properly, and to secure the shawl about the boy's shoulders and back. For a girl of her stature, she's quite strong; and thanks to her experience with the Flower Division, she can at least take another person to safety. How big is he though? ] Think you can hold on to me for a bit? I'll carry you there.

[He's small, fortunately, looking no more than twelve -- and she'll notice as she lifts him, a small and very sickly twelve. If he's eaten in the last few weeks, it doesn't show.]

[But still he nods, grateful, one delicate hand reaching up to brush at her braid with the same fascination as he had the shawl.]

[He tilts his head, nearly revealing his right eye, but not quite, and mouths 'thank you'.]

[ Iris would hate to hear this, but she's even heavier than this boy is! She settles him in her arms, speaking gently -- ] There we go!

[ She gives him a bright smile and a nod, acknowledging the thanks. ] Mm! It's not really far, so don't worry.

[ Walking at an easy pace, she only chuckles lightly at his touching of her braid. ] The robots may look scary since they're big, but they're nice!

[ Pauses in her talking and carries on walking, wondering if the boy might be needing rest instead. ]

[Another nod, he doesn't look worried in the least. He does look exhausted, but it's hard to tell if that's because of an illness or whether his skin just looks that washed out naturally.]

[The mention of the robots, however, changes his demeanor significantly. he looks away, expression turning sad.]

D-don't worry! I won't be leaving you just like that! I'll--

[Oh, it isn't that - but he can't think of a way to communicate that without misunderstandings. So he smiles apologetically, nodding. Company would be nice.]

[Once they get to the hospital, one of the bots starts poking at him in some cursory examination. The boy recoils, looking distressed, but then points emphatically. There's a wheelchair in the corner of the room that's caught his interest.]

[ Kohran almost felt relieved when the bots started attending to them right away, but also felt troubled seeing her charge bothered. ] Aa-- wait! Hold on Doctor Robot!

[ Follows the pointing -- ] He needs that wheelchair, see?

[ And before the bot could protest or do anything else, Kohran pads over -- ] carefully now... [ -- and sets him down, gentle as possible. Addressing the boy: ] Is this better?

[He grins as he's set down; it's the kind of wheelchair with a motorized joystick, which he tests quickly, rolling forward a foot.]

[Another smile for Kohran and he uses the chair to manipulate himself to a "nurse's station" counter, where there's a scrap of paper and pen. He shakily writes a few letters and then rolls over to hand her the page with a strangely knowing smile.]

[The paper reads, "Chris"]

[ Oh! She's somewhat relieved to see that he can work with the wheelchair. Kohran watches him for a bit until he comes up to her. She crouches down, touching the paper for a closer look -- ]

Ah! Chris! You're Chris -- it's good to meet you! I'm Kohran.

[ Fleetingly, she believes that little light lead her to him and she's thankful. What if he was just left alone outside just like that? Adjusts the shawl again. ]

Are you hungry?

[Chris nods as she understands what he meant. She's a kind girl, although she seems to have a bit too much confidence in these robots for his taste.]

[He shakes his head at the question about hunger, his smile fading somewhat. He doubts he'll find anything to eat here.]

[ Not just confidence, but affection and -- yes, it's possible -- faith in the machines. But when it comes to a machine called "Acumen", she feels sad, if not a little angry towards it. ]

[ His headshake and faded smile worried her a bit. She knows how frail and pale he is -- ]

A-are you sure? I mean, if you don't like hospital food, I can get something from the store for you -- they have fruits and vegetables. Even pizza and ramen, if you like those things...

[Chris looks pained, and shakes his head again. He has no way to explain this without being able to touch her thoughts, or having a translator.]

[He glances over toward the window, earrings jangling. There's another strange effect on the lights within the hospital, brightening unnaturally before dimming to normal levels once again.]

[And this time, Chris's body glows right along with them.]

[ Despite the many thoughts running through them, Kohran's mind is actually an open book. And said thoughts halt for a bit, as the lights first catch her attention -- ] What is-- it's happening again-- ?!

[ And now, at least with him glowing like that, her attention is focused on him -- ] Chris?! What's happening? Are you okay??

[ Unless there's a Spirit Stone to help her out, then sadly, she cannot be as receptive as needed.

When the glow subsides, and that she sees Chris smile, she let's out a bit of a sigh in relief. ]

You gave me a bit of a scare there, but I'm glad you're alright!

Do you want to find a room though? It's cold out.

[ But if he wants to explore, she'll gladly give him her coat too. ]
