[Closed to Housemates]
[ They had come in into the Shelter as a fairly large group and now they have come back out with two members less. It was as if the Shelter had swallowed them and thus left a gaping hole in the black thing that Frankenstein has for a heart.

He showed no sorrow, no anger -- he lead the members of his household back home in the same manner that he had lead them in. With the same, casual and cheerful voice, he reminds them not to leave mud tracks all over the floor and to leave their shoes by the door.

Tonight's dinner will... not be ramen.

Frankenstein is in the kitchen, wrapping up jars of rose jam and jotting down notes for the recipients, occasionally looking out the window.

He should be glad. He was able to wait for eight hundred and twenty years. What is a few hundred more? ]

[Frankenstein isn't the only one suffering from Rai-withdrawal. Shinwoo may not have known Rai for nearly as long as Frankenstein has, but that doesn't mean he isn't as important to Shinwoo as he is to the principal of Ye-Ran High School.

And it's clear he's not happy about all this: his walk is more sluggish than usual on their way back to the house, his posture hunched over, and a frown on his face rather than his usual smile.

He goes straight upstairs to his room, flicks on his gaming systems, but only plays them half-heartedly, and for a few minutes before he shuts them back off and makes his way back downstairs, to where Frankenstein is carefully wrapping up his jam jars.

Tiredly, he plops himself down into a chair.]

Do you think they let him go back home?

[He should be happy, right? If Rai's not here, it means he doesn't have to be in jail anymore...]

[ Frankenstein tries to be as principal-like as he can. He knows that those who disappear aren't sent back home -- they were lost in Acumen's Dimensional Stabilizer. ]

Yes.

[ He should probably add something to that -- ]

He will be back with Yuna, Sui and Ikhan, and the stand-ins that we have back home.

[ -- and deflect. ]

How are you doing, Shinwoo?

[Well, that's good to know, at least. Even if it isn't true. For all that Shinwoo can be a bit selfish at times, ultimately, he just wants his friends to be happy and get all the things that they deserve, part of which is to be free and NOT be in jail.]

I'm okay. A little queasy from eating too much. [Despite the fact that EVERYONE told him to slow down. But there are still more important things to discuss!] Do you really think the stand-ins are doing a good job?

[He wonders if his stand-in is sleeping during math just like he used to....]

(( OOC: ngl, when I saw the notif for this in my inbox, I thought, "... why is Shinwoo answering for Karen?" XD;; ))

[ Frankenstein should hate having to lie to Shinwoo like this. But given the boy's temper, he would rather Shinwoo be angry at him for lying, than getting himself into further trouble with Acumen.

Today is not the time for that, however. He thinks he will deal with the fallout when it happens. ]

Something warm should help settle your stomach.

[ As Frankenstein pauses in what he's doing to get the tea effects ready -- ]

That would depend on the crimes you're accused of, I believe. I suppose mine would be waking up early, even on a Sunday.

(( ooc: He was clearly helping her move some furniture when the doorbell rang! ))

[Shinwoo wrinkles his nose at the thought of having to resort to something such as tea to calm his stomach, but he suppose it's better than having to drink some of the gross upset stomach medicine he's had in the past. And tea isn't really all that bad. He just wants to be able to go back to eating his shrimp crackers again.]

That's not that bad.

[Though why anyone would want to wake up early on a Sunday is beyond him.]

So people probably won't notice that we're gone, huh?

[ He can have his tea as sweet as he likes~ ] Better soothe an ache sooner than later, hm?

[ Waiting for the kettle to boil. ] It's what we're lead to believe, I'm afraid -- that Acumen is capable of creating clones of us so as not to disrupt with the reality we're from.

So... probably there's a Shinwoo back home who is never late for class. [ As deadpan as you may~ but you can almost -- almost! -- hear the laughter coming. ]

[He's not nearly as angry as he was the first time, but he's still...bitter? Resigned? It still amounts to him not being in the best of moods this morning. But at least he won't be breaking anything in the house. Instead he will pace around the building restlessly and try not to annoy Frankenstein too much.]

[ The funny thing about pacing is that one comes 'round a spot constantly. In fact, Frankenstein has taken to counting the amount of time it takes for M-21 to finish a "lap" as it were.

Idly, he thinks that finally putting That Tree into place would give him something to pace around should he need it again.

He can tell the man needs a walk the distraction. Maybe he does as well.

After a handful of laps, Frankenstein stands by the door of the kitchen, awaiting as he passed by. ]

M-21. I need your help.

[He was using it more as a means to drift in his own mind, but Frankenstein's call immediately catches his attention. He pauses, turning his head to look at him for a moment.]

Che. [Comes over to the kitchen door, silently awaiting orders.]

[ Who knows what M-21 would do if left to his own restlessness long enough? ]

Will you come to the Post Office with me? I have to send these out to those who came and made some jam with me.

We also need to do groceries.

[Go start a fight. Break property somewhere else that Frankenstein would find out about anyway.

He doesn't give his usual monosyllabic stand-in for "whatever," but instead looks him over for a short moment and gives a nod.]

Better than Shinwoo tagging along. [They've seen the kind of food Shinwoo buys and junkfood would end up filling their cupboards.]

[ Knowing smile. At the least they agree on something. There were only 11 jam bottles to take and it's not like Frankenstein is incapable of carrying them by himself; but hey. Reasons. ]

Bundle up then. I shall have these bags ready.

Hm. [M-21 doesn't normally question Frankenstein's reasons for anything. It makes sense somewhere to someone--usually only to Frankenstein. It doesn't take long for M-21 to put on his shoes and coat and head to the door, waiting. He doesn't get cold that easily, so he's never bothered to wear a hot or gloves. Hats were M-24's thing.]

[ And just as M-21 is getting ready, Frankenstein had put his own coat and scarf on, soft leather gloves on his hands. He then hands a box over to M-21. ] Here. Let's get going then.

[ As he leads the way, and once they were out on the sidewalks -- ] By any chance, would you know whom Rai was taking care of back in the Shelter? I don't think I was able to catch him.

[He holds the box carefully--and awkwardly, but he won't drop it--and follows Frankenstein out.]

No. He was too good for that. [As if M-21 could catch him if Frankenstein couldn't.]</small Do I need to find out?

If you would please. [ Given the abilities of the people present... ] I was told that the... person was severely injured and I that I must set aside some jam for him.

[ Thus the jar left back home. ] Rai seemed... intent on taking care of him on his own, but given his absence...

I'll handle it. [If it's something Rai cared enough to do personally, then it meant it was something worth doing.]

Do you have any clues?

Thank you. [ A little incline of his head in M-21's direction. ] It was on the second day of our stay in the Shelter. I wonder if the Defense Force had a way to be alerted of injured individuals and if we could place inquiries following that path.

[ Short, pensive hum. ] Rai seems to insist on calling that person, "it" at first, then switched to calling him in the male pronoun.

[Rai had been somewhat secretive, but then M-21 always things he's secretive. It's how things are.] Sure it's a human? We've got robots around.

[ Good point! ] Robots don't bleed in my experience -- and if it were one of the more common ones, then Acumen would've taken care of them already.

[ A few steps and -- ] I was thinking of someone of the non-human variety, actually. We have them here, as well.

[ Frankenstein does not see why Rai would want another dog, given he already has a Golden Retriever, a Wolf, a Shiba Inu and a pair of Whippets.

Then again... ]
Probably. If your senses can detect traces of Rai on any of the inmates, it might be a lead, starting with the Shelter. There's a chance the one we're looking for might still be there.

Che. [It's not derisive. More a reflex of acknowledgement. Rai collects strays, they already know this. What would stop him just because he already had a houseful?]

I'll figure it out. [He is now a man with a mission.]
