[There's no sense of time as Lacus wakes, her mind not quite clear of whatever anesthetic the hospital used to lull her into a syrupy, dreamless sleep. A glance out the window tells her it's late. And that she's been asleep for quite a stretch.]
[Her hospital bed has her in a more-or less reclining position and so turning her head is comfortable enough. Neil is lying in a bed beside hers, but not close; a long stretch of floor separates them. She almost smiles. The bots needn't be worried about that sort of behavior quite yet.]
[The beep of his heart monitor is more or less in rhythm with hers -- comforting in a way. She passes a calm moment listening to the even beep-BEEP, beep-BEEP of the machines before disconnecting herself from it, peeling off the sticky electrodes pasted just beneath the neck of her hospital gown.]
[There's a twinge of soreness as she slides out of bed, padding barefoot over to Neil. To the one person she had chosen above all others. Gently, she lays a hand on his shoulder.]
