Day 218; ⛎ Action | Evening/Late Night
[Caliborn got really pumped about his punishment, in that it meant that he could finally get some artistic recognition.]

[What he didn't get so pumped about was the fact that his name was to be displayed alongside them. So instead of bragging to the whole network about his awesome new art pieces, he just quietly submits his work and goes to find something better to do.]

[Which means going to the arcade to dick around with the shooters and fighting games for a while, and then looting the media store. Or he likes to think of it as looting, since he doesn't have to pay for anything, but there wasn't anything explicitly wrong about his conduct. ...Other than the part where he started giggling maliciously and ran out of the store, anyway.]

[Caliborn decides to round out his night by hooking up a brand new stereo. He'd pawed through the musical selections and picked out the things that looked the most offensive. So now he's pointing the speakers at the wall, cranking up the volume, and hitting "play" on his shiny new monster metal album.]

[At around 1:00am.]

[To those who are vaguely adjacent to his Sector 2 apartment: I am so sorry.]

[Duo was chilling at the arcade, too, focusing on first-person shooters, racers, and battle games. He wasn't doing half-bad, either. In fact, he was doing better than half-bad. Either this kid was really good at video games, or he did something other than what normal 17-year-old humans did for a living.]

[Caliborn knows a lot of people who are exceptionally good at video games, because that's pretty much all they had to do all day. So he's not too surprised to find someone else fairly decent at them, but he's going to do his best and make a show of being unimpressed.]

[Which means sidling up while Duo is playing a racer.]

Beep beep. Look out. The idiot wagon is on the loose.

[Duo barely acknowledged him. He was focused on the game, and, while aware of the other presence, the tone and words suggested that this other... being...? was there only to annoy him. He slipped past another NPC car on the track, throwing his own simulated vehicle into a controlled slide, drifting through the corner, and coming out ahead on the other side.]

[Caliborn watches Duo, and then the game, and then Duo again.]

[Not really happy with being ignored when he wants to properly taunt someone, the cherub starts standing progressively closer. His breathing gets exaggeratedly loud.]

[Without looking up...]

There's papertowels and stuff in the bathroom if you need to blow your nose.

[Because that breathing was really annoying.]

[Caliborn goes from creeperly to completely bewildered in no time flat.]

What. What does that even mean.

You were breathing heavy. So, unless you're getting your jollies from looking at me race a fake car, I just assumed that you might be congested or something. I don't need a snot rocket on my screen here.

[Or on himself, but he'd leave that out of the conversation for the time being.]

[Caliborn pulls a disgusted face.]

That's gross. I don't have your inferior human mucous membranes. Or bulbous facial protrusions. That require something so disgusting.

[He pauses briefly.]

Also. Don't talk about my jollies. Leave them out of this.

[The race ended, with Duo in first.]

Oooohhhh~~... Well, excuse me, Mr No Nose. I'm guessing that makes you a mouth breather?

[Caliborn narrows his eyes.]

Turn the fuck around and look at me. [He flickers his black tongue, an annoyed serpentine gesture.]

[Which, of course, made Duo just want to restart the game and not look, but he decided to just tolerate it this time. He made a big show of being annoyed and sighing as he turned in the seat, rolled his eyes, and leaned lazily against the back with his arms crossed.]

What?

[So not impressed. He got under that green skin so easily, apparently.]

[Caliborn points to his face. In particular, the nose. Or complete lack thereof, really. It adds to the skull-like head effect.]

Witness the physiology of a superior being. And our efficient non-mouth breathing passage.

Also. It's my turn to play. I've just decided it.

[Duo stared at him.]

So, that's supposed to be better? What about when it rains? Don't you get water in there?

[He smirked.]

But I haven't used all my tokens, yet. [Not that they had tokens, but Duo had been planning on a second game.]

It doesn't rain where we're from.

[He crosses his arms.]

What the fuck are tokens.

Things you use to play the games with.

[Of course, they didn't have tokens here... but Duo wasn't going to elaborate on that.]

You don't? Well, that sucks. Sometimes rain can be pretty awesome. You know, it rains here. You should be careful. Might wanna carry an umbrella to protect that not-nose of yours.

I didn't fall off the warden wagon yesterday. [He takes on a semi-scolding but definitely self-important tone.]

You don't need no tokens. And I just. Stay inside. Fuck that wet noise. Give me. A desert.

Aw, ya don't? Then I got them for nuthin'. That kinda sucks.

[Only he didn't really have tokens. Duo liked to play games with people.]

You're missin' out. Rain can be pretty neat.

And what about swimming?

Dude... you're just not into anything, are you? When I first tried swimming, it was pretty awesome. Scary, but awesome.

You should give it a shot.

[Caliborn scoffs.]

I'm "into" plenty of things. They just happen to be. Nothing your dull human brain. Is offering.

[Duo leaned on the seat, goading the other a little.]

Enlighten me then, oh superior one.

[That might sound rather sarcastic...]

[He grins back. It was sarcastic, but he chooses to accept it as literal.]

Games. Duh. All kinds. Any kind.

But also. Things like... Watching people suffer. And die. If possible, beating them up with my bare hands?

[As a legitimate afterthought, Caliborn snaps his fingers and holds his pointer finger up:] Oh. And. I like to draw.

[That was a little disturbing. Duo suddenly got serious.]

Sounds to me like you got issues, buddy. Games and drawing aside, if you're into hurting people, you probably deserve to be here.

Oh, really?

[Okay, that was either insanely creepy, or this guy was just pulling his leg. Duo decided to test the waters.]

So, spill. Deets or it didn't happen.
