Amberle was going through the motions and had been ever since the fight with Eretria. She was trying to solve it herself, to put the pieces together, to understand why Allanon would rise to whatever bait Ere sent his way. The more she turned it around in her head, the less she understood it. The only way to get the answers she sought was to find Allanon and the only way she knew to speak with him face to face was to let him come to her. It was cold out, cold enough that she was bundled in a heavy winter coat, a hat, mittens, and thick soled boots that her jeans tucked into. She fit in to the cold weather in Madison Valley, just as she knew he didn't need the same insulation that she did.
She just went for a walk in the woods, in an area less traveled by both the natives of Madison and the Refugees. She liked the peacefulness of it, the quiet sounds that only nature - undisturbed - could make. It was quieter too because many of the animals were tucked in for the winter and she didn't blame them. Amberle left barely a trace, as her Uncle had taught her, but she wasn't hiding. She wasn't even sure how long he'd been standing in her periphery when she noticed him.
Amberle didn't say anything as she turned to face him. Her feelings were written so plainly on her face - pain, uncertainty, insecurity, devastation - all of it just laid bare. She didn't have the words for it.
