Allanon sighed. "I would do it to any errant student. I would do it to any errant friend, too. " Then she spoke on and he stared, mouth open, eyes wider than he had thought he could get them any time recently.
What? How did that even...? what?
he stared at her again and shook his head. A long breath, and a whispered thought to Bremen apologizing for all his stupid ways when he was a kid, then he squared his shoulders to face her and cast his staff aside.
"Amberle... first, you completely missed the point of what I said. Second, you... are confused."
He held up a hand and spoke gently. "She is a Rover, and more. She is a druid to be, and more. She is all she has ever been and more. But all her past is still a part of her, as yours is a part of you."
He nodded. "She needs excitement, action, and a little bit of danger. From you, from someone she cares about, she needs words and signs that she is important to you. She works hard now, because it gives her a direction and she feels the calling of the druid. But she still goes home. And she would welcome your time, and your effort." He waggled a finger at her. he was angry, and he was tired, and he wondered what the hell was going on.
"I do not seek to interfere in your lives. I do my best not to. Which is why her training is at dawn and dusk. Night time, and the daytime around her work is yours. If you made use of it, you would not wonder her devotion to you."
He reached out to her, holding out his hand, open. "Reach out your hand, Amberle, and be not afraid of what you may find."
