Happy Anniversary, Lupin_Snape!

Today marks the 5th year anniversary of the Lupin_Snape community! We'll be celebrating for the rest of the month with polls, discussions, the Funtime project, and there's already been some special surprises!

Happy Birthday, Lupin_Snape!!!

I'd like to kick off our celebration with a brand new "Introduce Yourself" thread. Whether you're new to the communities or a long-time fan, a regular participant or lurker, please reply with the following info:

Name (preferred nickname, not necessarily your journal name)
How you found the community or the earliest community experience you can remember
Why you ship Snape/Lupin
   And some optionals:
Most memorable fic you've read in the last month (doesn't have to be new, though)
Most memorable art you've seen in the last month (same)
Link us to your first post or reply on Lupin_Snape

If you think I've left out some obvious questions, you're welcome to share your further thoughts, but I've probably saved them for polling later in the month.

Rather than make a big speech (like I normally do), I'll just say that I've been happy to be a part of this community for the past three years, partially because I love Lupin and Snape together, but, more importantly, because it's been grand working with each and every one of you. Thank you, everyone, for five great years!

love, lore

Happy Anniversary!!!!

Name (preferred nickname, not necessarily your journal name)
I go by karasu or hime

How you found the community or the earliest community experience you can remember
I just remember being a lurker for a very long time reading fics.

Why you ship Snape/Lupin
There are so many reasons, flawed men, who find happiness in one another. Broken souls and whole together. I think that's what does it for me. I love the very complexity of their characters and their situations.

And some optionals:
Most memorable fic you've read in the last month (doesn't have to be new, though)
Sort of a Fairytale by Geri: http://geri-chan.livejournal.com/13106.html
And Cupids Little Helper by Arionrhod: http://asylums.insanejournal.com/lupin_snape/119291.html
God I love both of these to bits!

Most memorable art you've seen in the last month (same)

Thank you and everyone else keeping this community in order!

Name: Kelsey, Kels, EL

Earliest Community Experience: Hoping for maybe two or three 'essential' Snupin recommendations to get started, and having the lovely people here tear out their bookmarks, journals, and whatever else at hand to help a new gal out.

Why: I'll admittedly ship Snape with nearly anyone (any male that is ;) ) But Lupin is the one character that really balances him out and could ground him. Plus just look at the cannon! So much history, misunderstandings, and tension that JK actually felt the need to throw us some Beards.

Fic: "Severus in Wonderland" by Stoicstella - wonderful dialogue, humor, writing, etc. Not my typical kind of fic, but a great read!
http://snupinsanta.annex-files.com/viewstory.php?sid=189

Art: "Lubricus" by aleoninc - She. Can. Draw. I can't say I've ever seen anything I haven't loved, and it always dances somewhere around sweet (sometimes smutty) and funny.

Happy anniversary, and thanks to lore and all the mods for keeping the community running!

Name: I'll answer to either Geri or Geri-chan.

How I found the community: I found some links to fics on the community through the snape_n_lupin Yahoo Group. There wasn't--and still isn't--much activity going on at the Yahoo Group, but there were tons of great fic on lupin_snape, so I came over to LJ (and now IJ).

Why I ship Snape/Lupin: See my Snapedom essay on the ship for the long answer:

http://community.livejournal.com/snapedom/19010.html

The short version is that (1) the pairing intrigued me, since Snape and Lupin are both Dark creatures in a sense, and (2) the way Snape followed the Marauders around in school trying to find out Lupin's secret sounded to me like he had a teenage crush on Lupin, which I thought was rather sweet, but sad at the same time, since Sirius and James would never allow Lupin to get together with him.

Most memorable fic: Banished by zephyr_macabee; see my Snapedom rec for summary and links.

http://asylums.insanejournal.com/snapedom/88039.html

Most memorable art: Cocoa Goodness by karasu_hime; I love the sweet domesticity of Lupin, Snape, and Teddy.

http://asylums.insanejournal.com/lupin_snape/112439.html

First post/reply: As I recall, I joined partly so I could reply to this post regarding Snupin songs. I often find inspiration for my fics in music, and I like to quote song lyrics in my fics, so it was a subject that caught my attention.

Happy Anniversary lupin_snape & thanks to lore and all the people who help make it great

Name: red_day_dawning - a few IJ people call me 'Red', that's fine.

How you found the community or the earliest community experience you can remember: Complete mental blank - I just remember being thrilled there were asylums devoted to snupin - I had assumed I'd have to find snupin fic through places devoted to Lupin or Snape.

Why you ship Snape/Lupin: Because they've both so wonderfully sexy, enigmatic and complicated - they call to some-thing in each other (I think), they both have dark sides, they both value control and live by restraint but when that control is gone, something else is revealed/released. They complement each other perfectly.

Most memorable fic you've read in the last month (doesn't have to be new, though): I've read so many wonderful stories recently, but I especially loved snapelike's Dragon Heartstring, Werewolf Tooth

Most memorable art you've seen in the last month: the marvelously sexy Remus/Severus/Lily The Cost of Her Protection by [info]karusa_hime

I'm happy to answer to Chart.

I can't actually remember the first time I stumbled upon lupin_snape (even though it would have been less than a year ago), but I do remember being struck by how helpful, witty, and supportive the members were. Which was a pleasant surprise considering they were all so clever and damn talented! I fell in love with this wank-free comm, and they haven't been able to get shot of me since!

I ship Snape/Lupin simply because they are made for each other. The fact that they also happen to be the two most interesting characters in the HPverse is a lucky bonus! ;)

Most memorable fic? That's a bloody difficult question because 1. the standard is so damn high here, and 2. my memory ain't what it was! I'm really enjoying werewolf_lib's The High Cost of Living, which must be memorable for me, as I'm not usually a fan of episodic fics (too impatient!)

Most memorable art? Again, why do you ask such difficult questions? In amongst all the other gorgeous pictures, the one that has come bouncing into my head is karasu_hime's picture of our beautiful boys with Sirius in fairy wings as their matchmaking godfather.

My first post on Lupin_snape was here:

I actually discovered snupin at diagon alley thanks to mckay and snegurochka(close but now cigar)_lee...while looking for snape porn (yes, I know shocking). More web searching led me here!!

Why you ship Snape/Lupin
'Cause they're real. Broken, tenacious, battered, careworn, stubborn, loyal and, of course, sexy gay men.
Most memorable fic you've read in the last month: Retired Nature found here

How you found the community or the earliest community experience you can remember: I can't remember how I found the community exactly, although I was a shipper, so I'm sure I deliberately looked for it, probably through a search or looking to see what communities other RL/SS shippers were members of.

Why you ship Snape/Lupin: When I first joined the HP fandom in August/September, 2001, I poked around Yahoo mailing lists and found the snapeslash and hpslash lists, and then I poked around the links section for both mailing lists to find archives. I read a lot of different stories to see what sparked for me. I was still new to slash, having only read/written it less than a year although I'd been writing fanfiction for years prior; I knew I liked both Snape and Lupin in canon, but it took stumbling across The Parapet for me to find what I'd been looking for. Once I started reading RL/SS stories, something just clicked for me, and I knew this dynamic was it. I started writing Wicked Game I by early October, 2001 (I'm one of the pairing geezers, apparently *g*), and years later, RL/SS is still my OTP. My full RL/SS history is here; a longer version of why the characters and their dynamic appeals to me is here.

Most memorable fic you've read in the last month: Eek, that's tough because I've been really busy in RL and sort of on hiatus in fandom, so I haven't been reading/viewing much of anything. I've been keeping up with The High Cost of Living by [info]werewolf_lib when I can, though.

Most memorable art you've seen in the last month: Ditto for the above, but I usually peek at anything [info]aleoninc or [info]karasu_hime post, and I've definitely been enjoying [info]omni_sama's Birth of a Misunderstanding.

Why you ship Snape/Lupin: They fit well together. They're complex and interesting people. They both deal with Darkness in their lives. Their personalities balance each other. And they're very sexy together. :D

And some optionals: Optional what? Pairings? Kinks?

How you found the community or the earliest community experience you can remember: Probably at least three years now, I originally joined on livejournal - but I seem to recall that I was shipping Snupin even back in high school, which means it's probably been closer to four years. Huh.

Why you ship Snape/Lupin: There are a lot of reasons, really, lol. I think I was originally drawn to the ship because the quality of fic and art in the snupin communities was so much higher than in a lot of other ship communities. And, basically... well, Remus is the only person I can think of with the patience to actually put up with a lover like Severus. And I think that secretly, Severus really needs someone who can 'put up' with/ support him that way.

How you found the community: You guys are going to laugh at my history. I actually started out looking for Snape/Black, but that was shortly lived when I stumbled upon Snape Fun-Q-Fest and read a couple of Lupin/Snape fics. I found Lupin/Snape Fun-Q-Fest – clicked around on a few links and found Pervy_Werewolf. I hung out there for a bit and thought there’s gotta be a Lupin/Snape community…and so here I am. That journey all took place about 8 years ago. I know, I’ve been shy, and therefore been a long time lurker.

Why you ship Snape/Lupin: I love the dynamics between the two, and there are endless possibilities where their relationship could go.

Most memorable fic read in the last month: Umm…lately I’ve been reading over at snark_n_bark

Most memorable art you’ve seen in the last month: *blushes* sorry, I’ve not been looking.

Name Eve, enigmalea, enigma... I'm really not picky.
How you found the community or the earliest community experience you can remember: Actually, it's [info]severity_softly's fault. I found her through the Blades of Glory fandom, and she needed a beta for her Snupin Santa Fic. I'd shipped Snupin in RPGs before so I volunteered. Uhh... and then I added the community to my friend's list on LJ... and on IJ... and the rest is history.
Why you ship Snape/Lupin: I started my fandom life (and still do to some extent) shipping Snape/almost anyone. But due to some very bad roleplaying experiences with someone who became a little obsessed with me and our ships I dropped Severus/Lucius and Sirius/Remus. My first Snupin experience was with a PSL with a very close RPG buddy, in a reactionary "OMG I can't play Severus/Lucius and Sirius/Remus anymore" semi-breakdown. She took Severus, and I took Remus, and the Snupin love was born. I've been addicted ever since.
And some optionals:
Most memorable fic you've read in the last month: Probably Retired Nature by ehmaz. Even though I haven't commented (I'm absolutely horrible with commenting), I've become addicted to this fic, and I keep wondering how it's going to work out.
Most memorable art you've seen in the last month I... tend to stay away from art (because my husband freaks out with the homoerotic images), and if I do look it's usually quick (unless he's in bed or gone). However, I KEEP returning to stare at [info]blpaintchart's There be cross-dressing and boys looking girly, which I obviously loved enough to write for the Trading Places Challenge. It's really fantastic, and I'm not normally a fan of cross-dressing.
Link us to your first post or reply on Lupin_Snape I know my first comment was on the above mentioned art, but I think (I have a really bad memory) my first post was the first chapter of A Severely Shattered Mind. I DO have the second chapter written and it's been beta'd, but I haven't had the time to edit it. I actually made myself the promise I'd get it up this weekend.

Oh this was so much fun going back in the archives and seeing all the posts from around that time. Thank you so much Lore (and everyone else) for making this such a fun place to hang out! (Kermit thanks you too~ He is a s00per sekrit Snupin shipper. =D )

Name (preferred nickname, not necessarily your journal name)
I'll pretty much answer to anything, but Anglo or ADJ are the norms ('specially in the chat room.) People at my journal tend to know my real name.
How you found the community or the earliest community experience you can remember
When I first joined LJ I had a RL friend whose journal I went through and joined all of her communities. LS was there, and reading it all I was hooked big time.
Why you ship Snape/Lupin
I ship Snupin because I think they are a symbol of doomed love. We root and root for good things to happen to them but then in the end (and canon unfortunately) things don't go well for them at all. I am a glutton for doomed love in general. (Though I will say this community has some of the BEST writers and I LOVE how we just ignored canon and made up our own endings :) )

And some optionals:
Most memorable fic you've read in the last month (doesn't have to be new, though)
Oh, Oh! [info]ellid's New York Minute (Erm, can I link to it? Well, it's on Moonshadow *nods*) I have this (and most of its companion pieces) saved to my laptop and whenever I want to bawl my eyes out get a Snupin craving I pull it up. Never loses anything for me. I also have You Never Know (Stasia) and The Adventures of Remus J. Lupin - Aspiring Sex God (Snegurochka_Lee) on my hard drive. Those are great for passing long hours in my truck when I have no internet connection.

Most memorable art you've seen in the last month (same)

How you found the community or the earliest community experience you can remember: First taste was thetreacletart's Still Life story, then went lurking in ff.net looking for interesting Remus stories and found cruisedirector's Coffee and Chocolate stories. I think I found the community through her account there.

Why you ship Snape/Lupin: Because Snape and Lupin are two of the most interesting characters in HP and the chemistry is just lying there, waiting to be tapped.

Name (preferred nickname, not necessarily your journal name) Zephre/Zeph, or Keri (they both appear on all my Con Badges).
How you found the community or the earliest community experience you can remember: Er. I have no idea, actually. I got into fandom through Remus/Sirius and the Shoebox Project, actually, after an RL friend of mine clued me in to the existence of this whole Harry Potter Fandom Thing. This was 2006, probably right after Half Blood Prince came out, which was about the time I started to be really invested in the phenomenon instead of just the books. I dove right into the darker side of the puppy ship, and then Lo! found Snupin probably early last year. Also got ridiculously into Wizard Rock and eventually started drawing, then writing in the fandom.
I have to say the biggest draw of this community was the welcoming committee, informal as it is. Lupin_snape folks really just drew me in from lurker to poster to rabid community chatter. :)
Why you ship Snape/Lupin: I think the ship manifesto kind of hits the high points for me. Two dark, troubled men, two interesting characters with so much of their pasts left in the dark... they just beg to be fleshed out. And there's so much potential in their relationship, one of the few adult relationships in the series that is fleshed out beyond a few words. So much history; even if they weren't lovers, there's something there.

And some optionals:
Most memorable fic you've read in the last month (doesn't have to be new, though):
Moonlight Investigations by [info]red_day_dawning

Hi all! My name is [info]westernredcedar but you can call me Cedar if you would like.

Hmm, well I'll go down the nostalgia slide for this one--
Way back in 2003, in a fit of grief over Sirius, who I was SURE was still alive, I sat at my computer one lovely afternoon and typed "Harry Potter for Adults" into Google, hoping to find others who agreed, but pretty sure nothing would come back. HA! Sure enough, the first thing to pop up was the epic and infamous yahoo group Harry Potter for Grown-Ups. Well, I dove into the massive meta/predictions/commentary/literarycritgasm that was that group during the OotP to HBP era, and was a daily lurker and occasional poster at HPfGU for years. Anyhoo, every once in a while, someone would link to a "fanfiction" ("What is that?" says Cedar), and because of that I read a few of the super well-known het fics, like Cassie Claire, etal. Eh. Whatever.
Then, one day a marvelous essay was posted, analyzing why Remus and Sirius were clearly a couple. Now, I'd previously thought that Lupin was gay, but the whole idea of finding a coded gay couple in the text! Now I was excited. Anyway, long story long, I ended up at Sycophant Hex, looking for R/S stories, and somehow accidentally clicked on A Sound Like the Dashing of Hope, by [info]snegurochka_lee. Well! R/S forgotten, Snupin was my true love at first angst. I read and re-read that fic so many times before I looked at Lee’s author info, where there was a little link to “LJ” ("What is that?" says Cedar. *click*) Then Lee’s super organized LJ led me to lupin_snape, and here I am, almost a year later. You all made me feel welcome immediately, and I ain’t leavin’. *phew*

Most memorable fic of the last month? Well, seeing as how I just re-read all of Lee’s The Blue Door while I searched for my first post, I guess I’ll have to go with that one. Although I’ve also been joyfully giggling over [info]blpaintchart’s cliché fic Imprisoned for the last month.

Most memorable art: Well that is really difficult, but I'll say [info]tbranch’s Spy Snupin. It is SO awesome!

Turns out my first post here was a short Marauder’s era fic, What He Noticed First, followed soon thereafter by my Darkfic for the Darkfic challenge.

Name--Kat. Hi!

How you found the community or the earliest community experience you can remember--I am not sure! I have been a lurker for a while. I think I made my way here from Pervy Werewolf.

Why you ship Snape/Lupin--I am a dedicated Snape-o-phile, and eased into fanfiction reading Snape/Hermione on Sycophant Hex, but started reading Snape/Anybody rather quickly. I think Snape and Lupin have an equality that I enjoy more than say Snape/Harry or Hermione, and they both have their own demons to deal with...Plus, canon Lupin is gay, gay, gay, there is no way he is not gay, why would any straight or even bisexual man repeatedly fight against being with a woman who could assume any look she wants?!? Okay, enough ranting.
And some optionals: Snape/Harry, and Snape/Lupin/Black (and even some Draco/Harry, thanks to Maya)

Most memorable fic you've read in the last month (doesn't have to be new, though)--I enjoy reading anything by schemingreader. She wrote Like That recently: http://schemingreader.livejournal.com/274295.html

Most memorable art you've seen in the last month (same)--I love anything by aleoninc and karasu_hime. I also liked this very very hot pic: Happy Birthday, Remus, by zephre. I still love the socks! http://zephre.insanejournal.com/29302.html

How you found the community:
I was assigned to play Snape in an RPG - something I never imagined would happen to me as I disdained all the HP adults on principle - and I went researching at the Snape FQF. After sampling several pairings for Snape, I found that not only did his pairing with Lupin make the most sense, but those stories also set off a spark in me that has only grown over the years into a roaring fire. There was a point in 2003 when I felt I had read every Snupin online, large or small, dark or light, except for a few I was holding back for rainy days.

Why you ship Snape/Lupin:
My reasons really haven't changed since I first came onboard. I link a fic titled Broken by [info]sams_cafe (Copperbadge), and the last lines say it all for me:

"They didn't fit the world. Their pieces had gone missing between marks and scars and little bits of soul torn out over the years, but two jagged fragments could look alike if you held them up in the right light, and even if they didn't fit the world, they fit each other.

Only the two of them matched."

Oh yeah, that's the stuff.

Most memorable fic you've read in the last month: AND ART
The Corridor Ambush by the TAGAY Doujinshi circle.

I don't think people really understand how special it is to have a Doujinshi circle that works with the pairing AND is willing to post their work, in English, for all of us to see for free. Go check it out and leave them some feedback, please! Maybe they'll come back with more. ~_^

My First Public Drabble. Oy! I've been around a lot longer than I thought. I'd been lurking almost from the group's inception, and felt I should contribute if I wanted more Snupin, so I did. And made darling Kel come along for the ride. Heh.

love, lore

How you found the community or the earliest community experience you can remember: Now, I really don't remember! At least three years back, I should think, and I expect I followed links from somewhere to somewhere else, and ended up here (OK, on LJ, but you know what I mean!). And then I probably lurked for a while. I'm a born lurker.

Why you ship Snape/Lupin: Two strong-willed men with very different canonical views of things - there's bound to be something interesting going on when they get together!

Link us to your first post or reply on Lupin_Snape: Well, it would have been a comment, but I honestly don't know *when* - as I say, it would be at least three years ago! And I'd have absolutely no way of tracing it... Possibly on something by [info]busaikko, [info]scribbulus_ink or [info]bronze_ribbons?

How you found the community or the earliest community experience you can remember: I'm sure I must have been searching interests at livejournal. Or googling. One or the other.
Why you ship Snape/Lupin: I was a Snape fan from the beginning, but it took me a lonnnng time to pin down a ship for him. I finally started thinking about the past they shared, though they weren't friends, and about their darknesses, their difficult lives, and realized that I wanted both of them to find their own happy ending. I've always enjoyed seeing a prickly bastard fall for someone kind and rather gentle, so it works for me.
Most memorable fic you've read in the last month: The Hen Party
Most memorable art you've seen in the last month: What Snape Was Like

I'm not sure what my first comment was, but it might have been a suggestion how to locate a fic that was currently AWOL because I have dreadful Nancy Drew tendencies that won't go away.

Hi. [info]hogwartshoney here.
I think my first Snupin was 'Power Play' by smoke at SycophantHex. I stalked her shamelessly, found a (non-Snupin) collaboration between smoke and snegurochka_lee's there as well. Was blown away by the intensity of their writing, then checked them out on LJ. Lee mentioned this comm (on LJ), so I came to take a look and never left. It's 100% their fault. Yep. *nods*

Snupin wasn't my first OTP - I don't think I really have a single pairing. I truly enjoy good stories regardless of ship, but there's something about Snupin that really 'works', y'know? Same generation, long history of school and then the previous war, both are misunderstood by people, they have the capacity to be dark... they're just intriguing. Plus, we get to have lots of pr0n with them too - let's not forget that!

The writers/artists in this comm are truly fantastic! I've read fics that have transported me to utter despair, utter joy and just about everywhere in between, and have gaped/drooled over/wept at many pieces of art. Nothin' but love for all of you, and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY lupin_snape!

How you found the community or the earliest community experience you can remember: Way back a few years ago I played Remus in my first non DandD rpg. My first HP as well...Snupin. I wanted to read fic and be around others of the same mind.

Why you ship Snape/Lupin...because it makes sense.
And some optionals: Who doesn't know I also ship Puppies, RL/HP and another fandom (Yeah, it is Star Wars and yes, the McGregor).
Most memorable fic you've read in the last month (doesn't have to be new, though) R&D - Busaikko. I simply love her Remus in this.
Most memorable art you've seen in the last month (same) ...all the art on Chocolate and Asphodel.

How you found the community or the earliest community experience you can remember Like most, I followed a link from someone on the f-list and found myself...amazed!

Why you ship Snape/Lupin Severus and Remus are the adult progression of what Harry and Draco's relationship could become. But, Severus and Remus have the miles of emotional travel upon their brows, and the manliness to cry even as they are verbally eviscerated. (You can tell who's doing that!) I love the resilience of the two characters and how bending and breaking cannot destroy them.

And some optionals:
Most memorable fic you've read in the last month (doesn't have to be new, though) Remus Lupin, P.I. by red_day_dawning Remus in a fedora!

Most memorable art you've seen in the last month (same)2004 Karasu_Hime art, Red Shoes.

How you found the community or the earliest community experience you can remember:
Ah... Honestly? I originally found this community because I was doing a desperate search for a fancomic I had read years ago yet never really understood (because I had not yet read the books). Since I had finished the books, I had a vague memory of this comic and thought it was relevant to my (Snupin) interests. I still haven't found it... :( But I did find this lovely community, so it all balances out, I suppose. :)

Why you ship Snape/Lupin:
Hmmmm... Well, when reading the books, I initially saw a Sirius/Remus thing going on...but then something about the way the three of them reacted to each other made me think of a triangle where Severus wants Remus and Remus (possibly) wants Severus and Sirius wants Remus and so hates Severus and Severus knows Sirius wants Remus so hates Sirius...and...er... Well, a very complicated backstory developed in my mind of this triangle, totally of its own accord, since I tried very hard to NOT read any slash into the books. >_> Also! How can I resist this couple? It's so...deliciously complicated!

Most memorable fic you've read in the last month:
I got a kick out of [info]nehalenia's Hen Party, and I am currently enjoying ehmaz's wip Retired Nature.

Most memorable art you've seen in the last month:
[info]aleoninc's Hall Pass.

The above choices were tough! I enjoy the works (both fic and art) in this community so much!

No idea what my first reply was, but I think I found my first post... Which reminds me... I still need to finish retouching the transformation images (had to either take a photo of each or scan them in sections due to the large size of the drawings)...

Ach. School's almost out for the semester. I promise I'll work more on that then. Er...and finish the Better to Copulate than Never fancomic...um...and...many...other...things. Speaking of schoolwork... *slinks back into the dark abyss of researching and paper writing*

Aww, Happy Anniversary, [info]lupin_snape!

Name: My author name is Snegurochka, but in non-author settings you can call me Lee. Only the LJ name shoves the two together, and rather awkwardly at that...

How you found the community or the earliest community experience you can remember: I was a regular at a great message board called Knockturn Alley back in 2004, and someone mentioned in the fic forum there that my story, 'Not Love', had been recc'ed in this comm. So I went to look. Never found the rec, actually (heh), but found much to lurk at here. :)

Why you ship Snape/Lupin: Why NOT ship Snape/Lupin? That's my question. :) It gives you everything, really: if you're into angst and tragedy, you can have it; if you're into humour and banter, you can have it; if you're into compatibility and long-term relationship, I think you can have it. It's not a pure hate-sex pairing like Snape/Black or a pure-BFF pairing like Remus/Sirius... I like that it can be anything you want, and still be canon-compliant. :)

Most memorable fic you've read in the last month (doesn't have to be new, though) Ack. I've been off faffing about in next-gen fic and kind of ignoring my OTP a bit, but Neha's Hen Party was great, and I recently (finally!) read [info]snapelike's LMoM fic from last year for the first time, 24 (A Day in the Life of a War-Hero Werewolf), which... gaaaaah, has been deleted, I see, so pardon me, I have to go off and yell at her to repost it somewhere else...

Most memorable art you've seen in the last month: [info]tbranch's Spy Snupin is made of win, and OH YES, [info]twilightsorcery's What To Do When You're Out Of Lotion (NWS!)

Link us to your first post or reply on Lupin_Snape: lol. *embarrassed* OK: Feb 15, 2005, whoring fic. Also, since I came from message boards, I didn't know how to reply to people on LJ. *facepalm*

How you found the community or the earliest community experience you can remember: It's all [info]scribbulus_ink's fault. I found her Wicked Game trilogy, and it was all downhill from there. I kept coming back, and coming back, and coming back...and then I just stopped leaving.

Why you ship Snape/Lupin: Their personalities fascinate me. They both have such a great mix of emotions; bitterness, hope, cynicism, sarcasm...they're stronger together than they are apart. They make me think thoughts about loyalty and friendship and pain and regret. They're both powerful and capable in their own right, and they're undone by their own secrets, and I could just keep going on and on.

Most memorable fic you've read in the last month: [info]evegenia's incredible fic Dangerous People.

Most memorable art you've seen in the last month (same): Everyone's linked to Tbranch's superspy drawing already...

How you found the community or the earliest community experience you can remember: I found some fics in a random search and ended up reading several really good fics at LiveJournal for Snupin.
Why you ship Snape/Lupin: Instinct? Not a matter of opposites attracting, more like the similarities are too strong to be ignored.
And some optionals: If they're written well, Snape/Hermione and Remus/Hermione.
Most memorable fic you've read in the last month: Goodness. It's been a hellish month at work so I've not really had a chance to read very much. Hmm. Ellid's "New York Minute" stands out as well as an SS/HG piece and I believe it was called "Bitter Hearts".

Why you ship Snape/Lupin: I really like the dynamic between them and exploring whether Snape's disdain for Lupin is masking something else.

Since my memory is clearly deficient, I'm opting out of the optionals. *g*

I have truly enjoyed being a part of this community - everyone here has been so welcoming to this relative newcomer! Here's to many more years ahead!

Name: MaraudersWolf - MW is fine for those who like something short.
How you found the community or the earliest community experience you can remember: It was thanks to [info]maraudersaffair that I found out about Snupin. She talked me into writing for Fantasy Fest 2007.
Why you ship Snape/Lupin: Thanks should go to [info]maraudersaffair for getting me to consider this pairing! Remus has always been a favorite of mine, but I never considered pairing him with anyone - I had (okay, I still do have) other plans for the guy. Severus was someone who I hadn't thought about, even with all the hype over HBP. However, he's grown on me . . . enough that I can relate to the snarky, sarcastic man.

Most memorable fic you've read in the last month (doesn't have to be new, though): Umm . . . I can't think of any because I haven't had the time to read anything other than help wanted ads.
Most memorable art you've seen in the last month (same): Same answer as above . . . yes, my life is very chaotic at the moment.
Link us to your first post or reply on Lupin_Snape: Ugh! How about I link you to the first fic I wrote, which is in my IJ - http://marauderswolf.insanejournal.com/2524.html

How you found the community or the earliest community experience you can remember Um, when I joined LJ, I suppose. I slowly started hunting around for my fandoms. I was just a Snape girl at the time, and then I read a load of awesomeness on here and decided to stay. Snupin has now definitely become my OTP.
Why you ship Snape/Lupin Because there's so much potential for a whole scope of ideas. You can make anything happen and it usually works.

Most memorable fic you've read in the last month Retired Nature, I think. I'm certainly happy when it turns up on my flist.
Link us to your first post or reply on Lupin_Snape Well, that would be Domestic Snupin over on LJ. I always like to have something to offer when I join a comm and it's usually art.

First contact with the community: McKay's "Wicked Game" got me hooked on the pairing, and I started lurking on LJ in 2003. I got my own in 2004, continued to lurk, and never looked back.

Why do I ship these two?: Very simple: it's one of the very few slash pairings that makes sense to me. Lupin always came across as gay to me, and I could really see *something* between them in PoA, whether sexual or no. There was definitely unfinished business, and I love to explore what that business might have been.

Most memorable fic lately: Probably "It's a Wonderful Live, Severus Snape," on Chocolate Frog. There's a scene near the end that is absolutely perfect, and utterly chilling.

My first post to the community: Would you believe it's the unrevised first chunk of Motherless Child?

I'm taking a little hiatus from my little hiatus so that I can participate in the anniversary festivities. [info]lupin_snape has been a part of my life for so long now that it would be a crime not to.

Name: Aleoninc or Ale (most people 'round here call me Ale anyway)

How you found the community or the earliest community experience you can remember: Er, let's see. I started out reading general stories on fanfiction.net back in 2003, but soon found myself searching specifically for stories involving my favorite characters, Severus Snape and Remus Lupin. I came across a lot of Harry/Snape and Hermione/Snape as well as various Lupin stories involving Harry, Hermione, and Sirius until one day, quite accidentally, I stumbled across a Lupin/Snape fic taking place during Harry's third year. I was intrigued and somewhat astounded that I hadn't ever considered the pairing before then. Obviously, I was pretty well hooked right from the get-go. I read all of the Lupin/Snape stories I could find on ff.net and when I ran out, I went in search of more. I stumbled across [info]pervy_werewolf on LJ sometime in 2004 and noticed that most of the Lupin/Snape stories posted there cross-posted to a community called [info]lupin_snape. I lurked and avidly followed L_S for about a year before finally joining in on the fun in December 2005. Excluding the six months I was without a computer, I've been puttering around the place ever since.

Why you ship Snape/Lupin: I suppose I really enjoy reading about real, flawed characters and all the baggage they carry and you'd be hard pressed to find two more damaged souls than these. They are both dark creatures in their own way. But even aside from all the delicious angst, I really do feel they're quite well matched in personality. One's weaknesses are the other's strengths. While Lupin is patient and for the most part kind-hearted, he can also be quite cowardly, going along with something he doesn't fell is right for fear of losing others' good opinions and even at times running away from responsibility altogether. Snape, on the other hand, has proven himself fiercely loyal to fighting for what he feels is right, good opinions be damned.

And some optionals:
Most memorable fic you've read in the last month: It's not a new one, but just before I took off for parts unknown, I really enjoyed a fic called You'll Get to be Happy by StellaPen.
Most memorable art you've seen in the last month: Again, I haven't been around much lately, but [info]lizardspots art/fic collaboration with [info]snegurochka_lee for Yes Master NWS made quite an impression. No pun intended.
Link us to your first post or reply on Lupin_Snape: Took a bit of searching, but here is it.
