You know something's odd when even the chocobos freak out.
Okay, in Touching Immortality (Also known as the Ded Fic) Vincent has to chocobos, A green called Eko and a black called Revenant, between FVII and FFVII AC while Revenant was still growing Vincent spent time in the wildes trying to gain control over his limits. Clearly this is one of the times he failed, kinda. (Oh and this is all stopthatgirl7's fault.)
Revenant was a good black chocobo. His mother and brothers were all gold but his rider, or his future rider once Revenant was old enough and big enough to carry him, had chose him over his brothers, had given him his name, had taken him to this place where he could run and run and run.
Surly he wouldn’t have done all that just to eat him right?
…Unless it was because he really liked the chase.
Revenant jerked again trying to tug his reins free from where they were caught.
He glared at the baleful one eyed old green who was sitting on them totally relaxed except for the one set of talons which held his reins firm.
Revenant wark-ed trying to tug himself free again, and again Eko ignored him.
The monster that the man had become turned to look at him.
“Stop struggling.” Eko snapped her beak at the black bird, to old to be a chick but to young to be a mount. “I turned down Dröfn because I didn’t want to be burdened with raising chicks and I still get stuck with you.”
“Stupid old green!” Revenant snapped right back. “I don’t want to be eaten.”
Eko turned her one yellow eye to him.
“Why would he eat us?” She asked her voice full of black humour. “He’s probably full after eating what was foolish enough to attack us.”
“But…but…” The horned purple furred beast was still looking at him.
“Does he smell any different to you?” Eko asked.
“Yeah!” Revenant squawked. “He smells of blood, because he’s covered in it!”
Eko laughed. She never thought she’d see the day when quite little Revenant would act like is hyper active golden brother Tornado.
“Relax as long as he doesn’t have those noisy things on his arms or wings we don’t have to worry.”
The beast took a step forward and Revenant hunkered down ready to fight him.
“Don’t be an idiot.” Eko hissed.
The beast didn’t try to get any closer, he settled down where he was looking at Revenant with sad eyes.
Eko sighed.
“See.” She complained. “Now you’ve hurt his feelings.”
Revenant looked at her wondering when he became the bad guy.
“Wha-?”
