There were books on the high table where the teachers sat, opened up to different pages and grouped around Loki. Some were about Norse myth and others covered astronomy. The illusion of a small horse with eight legs moved around on the tabletop. He had recreated it from one of the wizarding illustrations, which also moved but not in three dimensions.
To one side he had enlarged the image of an armillary sphere, which floated next to his magical depiction of an astrolabe. He glanced at one of the large books before holding up his hand. Green light glowed like a halo around another sphere which materialised seemingly from nothing. Stars shone in it as the green faded quickly. He made it rotate with a light touch. As he watched, the star sphere enlarged. It grew until it was around him and he watched the constellations from within. Loki leapt up onto the table while studying the celestial vision. Stars of all colours twinkled, bright in some places though obscured by great banks of dust in others.
He wasn't completely unaware of the few people who lingered at their tables but he seemed to be as he concentrated on the illusion, pondering what he wanted to teach in his class. He paced to and fro on the high table, light of step, always graceful in motion or standing still.
