Letter from Igor Karkaroff to Raissa Kerensky, dated 16 September 1942
In Russian, quite well warded, in a cipher known to Russian emigres, and charmed reasonably competently to appear to be a letter concerning the death of Anna Karkaroff
Dear Raissa Lyubova,
I feel the time has come to begin in earnest the plans we spoke of over summer. You know what I mean. I have many willing buyers among the young ladies here already, but of course most aren't able to afford the priciest items. It is not possible for me to come into town any longer — I hope everyone is well after the fire my schoolmates so foolishly were involved in? — so what are our alternatives?
Wishing you the best of health,
Sincerely and humbly,
Igor Arkadyevitch
