when you coming home?
Who: Jaladhi and Missy
Where: Phonelines
When: Late afternoon (five or so)
Missy had kept herself busy all day at work, going through reports and just keeping her mind occupied. So long as she kept her mind occupied there was no reason for her to think about the facts of what had happened in the past few days. Not Jadyn reaccepting her only to stop calling or even texting or recalling her existence. Not what had happened with Nikita the other night. Not what she had seen a few nights before that, certainly not that... oh and not, not at all that she had spent part of the previous day talking with a vampire as though it were now the most normal thing in the world. Every Peloe that had ever known her must have been flipping over in their graves even more than they had been before. Should she receive a report about unusual behavior in Brisbane cemeteries regarding upturned earth and disturbed graves she would really not be at all surprised; they would all be on their way to kick her ass. But as the day wound to a close and she honestly ran out of things to do she had needed to go home. Kristen had her gymnastics after school and it was not her week for the carpool so she could not even distract herself by trying to chat with her. Like hell she was going to go looking for Nikita. Except a part of her - no, shut up, stop it. No. No. Instead she had stopped by the kitchen to pour herself a glass of blood and then she had realized she had her phone in hand with Jadyn's number highlighted.
Cheyenne had made the suggestion the previous day while they were talking, apparently in the hope that it would help her to feel better. Except she said she'd call right after work and she never did. That had been days ago. Missy knew what it was to be given the cold-shoulder and the largest majority of her mind was agreeing that that was exactly what was happening to her right now. Jadyn had come back to her for a night, probably some sort of farewell in the water elemental's mind without the actual 'saying good-bye' part, and that was it. She just had not had the heart to say it. It's because I got turned. Before that everything had been fine so of course it had to be that. Everything could be laid at the feet of that. Except for what had started with Nikita because that was all begun by that phonecall...
Fine, I'll call her. Missy hit the 'send' button and brought the phone up to her ear as she leaned against the fridge, free arm wrapped loosely around her waist while she stared at the half-empty glass of blood she had left on the counter. All that she needed to do was leave Jadyn a message. Because if it really was the cold shoulder and the elemental was done with her then why would she answer? Only that thought did not bring the slightest bit of relief, it caused a tight knot to form in her stomach. She did not want Jadyn to be done with her. It was confusing as hell when everything that was happening got added up together, but the end result was that she was still not ready for Jadyn to be gone. She said that she was sorry and that she didn't want to be away from me. She did say it, I'm not making that up. And she can't know what happened with Nikita. Oh no, Missy was not thinking about that, not here where Nikita's scent lingered in the air. She has to talk to me. The hunter's thoughts had stopped being rational and sensible a few minutes ago and they cut off completely when she heard the phone be answered. "Hey Jadyn, it's Missy... I just... you said you'd call and you didn't..." Was that her voice? It sounded absolutely pathetic and she made a face at the reflection she could see in the mirror. "Wanted to know why, that's all."
