I'm the hunter on your doorstep
There had been times when Artemis could spend years without walking into a city of Men. There had been times when she could spend years not seeing Apollo. There had been a time when she had spent years hating Apollo.
Now was decidedly not one of those times. So much had happened and so little was happening now. Her own people were trying to complete the same task as her half-brother's Maenads. Running Diana's Hunt was no longer something that she ought to do, wanted to do, it was something she needed to do to feel as if she actually mattered, as if her actions were actually effective in one area. And she saw her brother more often than usually, because he felt like a respite from the tumult inside her.
She walked not to the front door but came in through the grounds at the back of the ranch, walking until she stood at the back of the main building, and sitting there on the grass. She knew, now that she was close, that he was not there for now, but he would return. In the meantime, one of his people would surely come to her and offer her hospitality. She would take it, out here in the garden.
