The Dragons Event - Info & FAQ
BASICS.
So, as the post will further explain, all of Kiseki has changed into a series of caves and islands, centered around an alpha dragon's nest, and housing hundreds of different dragons of all types. The caves supply with necessities, and everything but fresh water is accessible somewhat easily. The point, then, is not to fight these dragons or try to survive the week, but instead to explore the areas available, and to cooperate with the dragons!
Why? Well, the alpha dragon, a massive white and pink old thing that mostly seems to sleep, is sick and seems to be dying. The other dragons can tell (as well as any character with empathy towards these kind of creatures), and so they want your help with that. They can let you tame them and fly on them, to look for water and food around... but they'll also want you to help the Alpha survive, and aid in keeping him fed, calm and happy.
Your characters aren't obligated to do so, of course, and can ignore the dragons' pleads as they wish.
FAQ.
- Do our characters keep their powers?
Yes, magic and other skills aren't affected by the event.
- Where can they find food and other necessary items?
They can join the dragons and fish or hunt for wild birds and other game, and/or look into the cave's maze for places where supplies are kept. Fresh water can be found at the reservoir as specified, and there're many, many types of vegetation around, including medicinal herbs and edible plants.
- What about weapons?
You'll find things like gunpowder, swords, arrows, etc in some of the rooms in the caves.
- What if my character gets hurt?
One of the cave's room is a large space set up as a small first aid clinic, where they can take care of any issues that might happen during the event.
- What happened to the Usyagi?
They're still around, and for this time their usual white wings are now dragon wings. You'll see them baiting the dragons to chase them and then disappearing before they can do it, and other such useful things. They'll still do their usual work, if needed - welcoming new people and checking with them if they need something from Kiseki itself.
- What about the school, museum, etc?
They're gone for the time being, enjoy the special holidays... A few rooms in the caves carry books, however, and you're free to snatch them should you find them.
- Could my character make the alpha Dragon sicker on purpose?
Nothing's stopping them, aside from an angry dragonlord and other IC shenanigans.
- Could my character kill the dragons?
... We really must emphasize the angry dragonlord aspect here, but yes, nothing does stop them from a setting pov.
- Can we KEEP our dragons?
Yes, actually. Request them here, and keep in mind they'd have to live in the forests mandatorily, and be mildly monitored by the mods.
- Can my character have a Night Fury?
No. Stick to less recognizable ones.
- What are the dragons like? How can we bond with them?
Think of the usual Kiseki animals... Something like that. They're not really aggressive - the most confrontational aspect you'll find is they can be stubborn (the prettiest dragons especially), and most will actually be friendly, since they want your characters' help. Some might be aloof, some might be proud, but overall you should be able to bond with them fairly easily. There's also the IC aspect to consider - someone like Sakura (returnedfeather) who is canonly described as having a close connection to beings with no voices and who is ICly friendly and kind would bond with the dragons with extreme ease. Someone like Aramis (thestare) who dislikes animals and has no patience for them would have a more difficult time. And so on.
- How would our characters know what they have to do?
The Usyagi will let them know, but the dragons will aid in this, too. They'll guide people flying on them towards their Alpha, to see his condition and try to get them to help out.
How long does this event last?
About a week for now, but we'll see if we don't extend it based on how much interest we have.
