Chit Chat with Roxas |

Roxas was many things. He was confused. He was adjitated. He was half convinced that he was going crazy. But he was not stupid. The people in the room were all worried about him, he could tell that. Needlessly, he thought, but still worried. Like when Sora always put on a smile even when he didn't feel it, because he needed to so that other people wouldn't worry about him. Pretending to sleep was Roxas's version of that smile.
He stayed 'asleep' while everyone left, and continued when the woman they said was his mom came in and told Kairi what was going on. But once she left, he opened his eyes to look at Kairi. She seemed a little surprised to see him away, but gave him her own smile back.
"Did you hear all of that, Roxas?"
Roxas nodded and took a deep breath. It made sense, but didn't make sense. He remembered being Roxas, Number 13 of the Organization. And he had Sora's memories, complete with feeling what he had been feeling, with the addition of a heart all his own. But all of the stuff he'd apparently known for... however old he was now? Gone.
"I know this must be really hard for you, Roxas," Kairi said gently, "But we're all going to do our best to help you. You remember Namine, right?"
Roxas nodded. How could he forget her? He'd only known her a short time, but because of her connection with Kairi, the Sora in him was drawn to her.
"Namine is my sister now. My twin. Like you and Sora. We all go to school together, at Domino High. Its not just us, though. A lot of people have been reborn. Like Axel, and the rest of the Organization. They're not bad people. Some don't even remember, I think. Or, if they do, they've decided to forget. One of my friends is like that, Tidus. We were friends on the island, before."
"I remember Tidus," Roxas said softly. He could see him in Sora's memories. Scrawny, blonde haired boy. They'd practice sword fighting together. He was never as good as Riku though. "I'm sorry to hear that."
Kairi shrugged a little and gave Roxas's hand a light squeeze. "It's okay. We can't punish someone for something they did or did not do in another life. This is a brand new chance. And if Tidus is not our friend now, maybe the life after this one will be different."
Roxas nodded. It made sense, but still... he'd been their friend. He wondered if his own friends he'd made in Twilight Town were around. He'd very much like to see them. "So, are you and Sora...?"
Kairi giggled. "No, silly. It's Sora and Riku."
Roxas blinked several times, trying to process. "Sora and Riku?" But it made sense... how close they'd been standing, how Sora pulled him away when he'd touched Riku, and his memories. His Sora memories. Sometimes watching Riku for no good reason other than he was there. Appriciating the way the light caught his hair, and the color of his eyes. Frowns when Riku teased him, awkwardnesses, the relentless persuit, how upset he'd been with Riku when his best friend began drifting away from him. With this knowledge, Sora and Riku oh man, it all made SENSE now! "Wow."
"Personally," Kairi said with a smile, "I wasn't surprised."
Roxas lay his hand over his heart. His inner Sora was... jealous? He thought about how Riku had leaned his forehead against Sora's, and anger-resentment-envy popped up. Jealous. What a weird feeling.
"Roxas, are you okay?" Kairi asked, a little concerned, and Roxas instantly put on that Sora smile.
"Just fine," he promised. "Tell me more about my mom?"
