Welcome to Jack x Ianto, IJ’s shipper community for one Captain Jack Harkness and one Ianto Jones of Torchwood.

What is Torchwood? Who are these characters? Why should I ship them? If you don’t know the answers to these questions already, let me give you a brief heads up:

Torchwood is a British Sci-Fi series and a spin-off of Doctor Who that shows on BBC 3 and BBC America. It’s your basic Sci-Fi show—fighting aliens, gathering technology, protecting the Earth in [near] secrecy—but if you really get into the series you’ll find it’s so much more. Captain Jack Harkness is the omnisexual leader of Torchwood Three (“This is Torchwood Three. Torchwood One was London, destroyed in the battle. Torchwood Two is an office in Glasgow, very strange man. Torchwood Three, Cardiff. Torchwood Four's kind of gone missing but we'll find it one day.”) and isn’t entirely human. Or, rather, he’s from a different time. The 51st century to be exact. Oh, and he can’t die. Nifty, huh?

Ianto Jones is the staff’s “support man” which ranges from cleaning up the Hub and serving coffee to destroying evidence and creating plausible deniability stories for the rest of the world on whatever might occur. For living only a couple of decades, he's probably seen more than most people ever could hope to including evil faeries, Weevils, and cybernetic girlfriends. He’s not entirely limited to just this sort of “background work,” though, as he’s taken a more active role on team missions after season one.

As for why you should ship them? Well, they’re one of the few “canon” slash pairings in the fandom as they do maintain a quasi-working relationship.

…Not to mention they’re hot.
