WHO: Finn and Rory
WHAT: Casual walk home
WHERE: On the way back to Rory's building
WHEN: April 25, after Rae's dance lesson
RATING: TBA. Medium for language more than likely
STATUS: In Progress
Finn was very different from AJ, as far as dance partners went. Somehow, Rory had failed to realize this, or even think it through, to be honest. She just recalled some off-handed comment about his dancing prowess, and when Rae announced another dance lesson was being held, it just seemed logical to ask her friend.
He claimed he knew what he was doing. He was actually taller than her (something AJ could not claim). It made sense.
To say the lesson had been difficult would be inaccurate. Rae was an excellent teacher, and what she was showing them was fun and enjoyable, even if Rory was far from a master of dance. The issue was that Rory was a tiny bit distracted.
But when the lesson came to an end, and they all started packing up, she decided to chalk that up to a very, very long time without close physical contact. Dancing close to someone, skin on skin, would be distracting to anyone going through what some might call a dry spell. It wasn't Finn necessarily, just the physical touching, the tickle of breath against her skin, that vaguely intimate connection bred on the dance floor. Rory wasn't reading into anything, and she was decidedly ignoring any knowing glances that may or may not have been coming from her paint-speckled instructor.
What she hadn't expected was for Finn to be serious about leaving with who he came with. His offer to escort her back to her place wouldn't have even made her blink if Rory wasn't a bit worked up. From the exercise. And stuff. She accepted his offer with a smile, sure, but they were halfway down the hall from where the lesson had been held before she had the sense to reach up, fix her messy, paint-splattered ponytail, and speak.
You know, like a normal person.
"I guess you might've been right about the dancing thing. You don't suck."
