WHO: Ollie, Allie and David
WHAT: Awkwardness and twin times.
WHERE: The library.
WHEN: Right after Rae's dance lesson.
RATING: Low, maybe language-medium.
STATUS: In progress.
To be honest, Ollie had been keeping to himself a lot lately. That wasn't to say he was spending time alone—quite the contrary, actually. He was still his normal chatterbox self and he had definitely still socialized with people around Federal Hall, but... he didn't spend extra time chatting people up like he usually did. Without Allie around, and now without Laney around, he felt sort of lonely in the most crowded of rooms.
It hadn't been so bad, at first. Laney had stuck around and kept him company now and again, except for when she didn't. But then one day, she just stopped coming. He'd gone to the library to look for her, and she wasn't even there. She was just... gone. From then, it had been unbearable. He was finally back with his sister, though, and moving to a larger safehouse where he had friends and there were hundreds more people than there were at Federal Hall, it wouldn't be so bad. It couldn't be so bad.
He'd miss Laney, but it was his own fault for trying to count on someone who wasn't Allie.
For the majority of the dance lesson, he'd spent his time on the sidelines, manning the stereo with Adelaide, stepping in a couple of times when particular women's partners had to rush to the restroom or go wherever else for a moment or two. No fewer than two occasions, he'd been tempted to cut in between Allie and David, but he'd fought those particular urges, because it looked like Allie was just so... happy. Having so much fun. More fun than he'd seen her have in ages.
Part of him wondered if this was how she felt all the time before. Lonely, while he was being social and happy like she'd always used to.
Now, though, everyone was dispersing, and he put a smile on his face while his sister and her boyfriend approached. He wasn't exactly the happiest camper, but he could be. For Allie.
“You two more or less gave everyone out there a run for their money,” he said, a slight tinge of awkwardness in his voice as he glanced at Zimmerman.
