With April, it was easier to pretend that everything was okay. It was a strange thing, really, but a true one all the same. “It would be. A chance to kind of have some time all to ourselves.” He nodded along with what she was saying and chuckled softly. “Exactly. Why did your cousin have to ask them along again?” he asked. He was kidding of course, but it was occasionally a little bit awkward to be around April with her twin brother there.
He didn't really get how April's twin worked a lot of the time, to be honest. He wasn't sure if Lucas liked him or despised him, and he tried to play it like he didn't care, but he did. It was important to April, more than likely, that he and Lucas got along, and the more time the twin spent hating him, the less chance this thing with April had to last. At least that was how Dillon saw it.
It was hard to resist the urge to help her walk. After the whole ordeal a couple of months ago, he was noticing that yeah, she was able to walk almost sturdily again, but it still made him anxious, that she was up and around herself again. "Food ideas. Well, it wouldn't be much of a picnic without food, would it?" he chuckled and shrugged a shoulder. "Who cares if you cook as well as your cousin?" he asked with a little smile. "I can almost guarantee that you're better at it than I am." It was half a joke, but there was definitely a layer of truth there, too. Dillon was hardly a cook. "So, are we going to just walk into the kitchen then? Will they let us?" he hadn't tried to do that before, so he didn't know.
