WHO: Rae and Eli, and David later on!
WHAT: BROTHERLY REUNION TIME, WOO.
WHERE: On a boat heading to Liberty Island… and eventually Liberty Island itself. XD
WHEN: 11/12/18, morning!
RATING: Medium for language (also kinda amusing later on XD)
This was a good thing.
It really was, not that there was ever any real doubt in her mind. So why, as they crossed the small bit of New York Harbor to get to Liberty Island, did Rae get a strong, foreboding feeling? The boat was full. Probably a little bit too full, to be honest. With her, Eli of course, Miriam, Aaron, her father and another three random survivors who had wanted to escape the confines of Madison Square Garden. It was a little odd, planning to escape confines and going to an island, but it was as it was, and with the hopeful look on Eli's face? Rae wouldn't change things if she could.
She looked at him with a bit of a grin from where she was rowing and nudged his calf with her foot. "So, it's finally time," she said with a sweet smile. She wasn't sure what she was more pleased about here, to be honest. Was it Eli finally getting to see his brother? Or was it the fact that she'd made it happen? Maybe it was a little selfish, but she sort of felt a little better about the last part. Not because she wanted any sort of commendation, but because she felt good about it herself. There were so few reasons to be happy in recent history, so many reasons to be miserable. And in helping Eli find one of his reasons? It had actually become one of her reasons, too.
It should have been alarming, how much of her happiness relied on his happiness, but it wasn't. Not really. That was just the kind of girl Rae was.
So pleased was she with this revelation that she barely felt the little bump on the bottom of the boat. She felt it of course, but easily dismissed it as choppy wave, since they were in the ocean, after all.
