Opening Mixer! Subject: Opening Mixer Where: Kensington Town Hall Warnings: None Open to: All
Lord George Edgar was not a man suited to these public events, they always left him feeling slightly ill-at-ease. But the day had gone well; the Queen had visited the New Town Hall, had opened it officially and done her tour of the building before heading off to whatever function was her next port of call, her entourage in tow. He had met her before, and dealing with the Lords and Ladies who surrounded her was his usual fare, but now, with dusk settling over the city, the Town Hall, new and resplendent, had been opened up for all that might want to inspect it, and with the food and wine on offer, he could only imagine what horrors might occur later in the evening.
Even so, it could have been far worse, and so he grinned as he greeted those who entered his new domain. And as MP for Kensington proper, it was his duty, and these were the good people he was appointed to represent. He did not know a great many of them, but it appeared that his father had. Or rather did. The voice in the back of him mind, although he was sure it was an indication of madness, did have it's uses, and as each new face came through the door, his father's drawn and tired voice named them, and then as George attempted to greet them and make polite conversation, his father continued to point out the failings and sins of each individual. The current Lord Edgar wished he could silence the infernal chatter, if only for a few moments, and allow his aching head a moments respite.
But it was not to be, as it was at that point that another wave of guests entered the building up it's fine stone steps, and gazed up at the Romanesque columns. He forced a welcoming smile to his face, and moved to greet these new faces, offering his hand to shake. "Good evening all. Welcome to the new Kensington Town Hall. A marked improvement, don't you think?"
