Who: Teagan and Seph
When: Roughly 11 am
Where: Her hotel room (113), Lobby, East Wing Ballroom
What: Shower, breakfast, guitar practice, smoking, so far.
Warning: Mild language.
After a shower, Teagan felt a lot more human. All comfort afforded to her by the presence of real authority figures was stripped when she found out about the hurricane. Her plans for the day were certainly shot if she had no hope of getting on the road out of Cantonville, and after a shaky conversation with the front desk to keep her room, Teagan decided to make the most of the situation and at least get dressed in real clothes. Unsure about the availability of laundry services and wanting to save her nicer clothes for the new job, she opted for comfort. An older unicorn shirt, jean shorts that bordered on too short, and a pair of tennis shoes. She pulled her newly washed hair out of her face into braids, then tried to compensate with jewelry and makeup to not look twelve. Not that it mattered. She wasn't going to try to get into any bars or clubs at this hour, after all, and it wasn't as if she were trying to impress anyone. She just needed to get out of her room for a while.
The restaurant prices intimidated her a bit, so she grabbed a prepackaged sandwich from the coffee kiosk off of the gift shop, with an orange juice. Healthy breakfasts were the mark of champions, and she could supplement with some of her road trip potato chips. The combination sounded like a complete meal to her. To avoid the weather and foot traffic, Teagan found a corner to eat in off the lobby, near the large fireplace. Then she went on an impromptu exploration, looking for an empty room with decent acoustics and a wealth of privacy. With the hotel full of storm refugees, this was something of a tall order. Most of the communal areas were in use, and several others seemed closed off, including some of the smaller conference rooms upstairs. Teagan was considering going back to her own room, despite the bad vibes, when she found that the ballroom was unlocked. Talk about amazing acoustics.
Never one to look a gift horse in the mouth, she dragged a chair to the center of the room and proceeded to unlatch her guitar case. The room dwarfed her, but she was used to feeling dwarfed by her surroundings. At least there was nobody around to comment on it. There were crumpled sheets of tablature in her case, but Teagan ignored it to run through what she knew by heart. There wasn't much she could do without the tabs in front of her, and even fewer songs that she knew well enough to sing and play. After tuning, she fell into shaky repetition of a favorite. Being alone gave her confidence, not to be better per se, but certainly to be louder. Unbeknownst to Teagan, her impromptu concert of tuning drills and four songs, one on loop, could certainly be heard - faintly - from the hall.
