The door slammed open at seven that evening, and the self-proclaimed king of the Marauders entered his humble dorm, taking in the familiar scent of Moony's chocolate and his own collection of spoiled candy--extra handy for tricking Slytherins.

His vacation had been rather dull, in his opinion, what with his mother losing the pie contest in Bermuda, and his trip to New York ending early. He had already spoken to Sirius and Peter over the Legens, and heard about their breaks.

James wasn't thinking about that right now, however.

What was he thinking about, then? Why the upcoming full moon/adventure, of course. He had finally perfected his Animagus transformation, and couldn't wait for his next chance to use it. Those antlers had been murder...

Closing the door behind him, he threw his bag on his bed and sat beside it.

"I'm home, kids!" He cried, not even looking to see if any of his friends were present.

"PaPa!" Sirius said from behind James in the most ridiculous accent he could muster. He hit his best friend in the back of the head as he walked around him.

"You walked right past me in the bloody common room, you insensitive fool." Sirius crossed his arms over his chest and put on a peeved expression.

After James had failed to notice who was about, Sirius had followed behind him upstairs. Good thing too, as the dorm was most likely empty.

	"Need I remind you what you left me for over holiday?" Sirius pouted back. He was no match for pouting...he was a Black after all. "Your mum always makes you fold everything. Trailing after Peter came Remus, whose mood was considerably higher, but then again he didn't necessarily hate any of his classes.

It was nice to have all four of them in the same room again, even though that normally was something to dread for everyone else.

"Be nice, Pads," came his instinctive reply, as he breezed past them all to dump his satchel on his bed.

	Every time Harry made his way into the dormitory, he froze for just a fraction of a second, realizing that he was going to have to come face to face with people that were far closer to him than he could ever admit. Hearing an unfamiliar voice, James jumped slightly. "Ah, that must be the new--" He turned to look at Harry, and then fell off his bed in shock.

He stood up, walked over to the boy, and stared for a full minute.

"This may be your best prank yet!" He said finally, turning to face the Marauders. "But you messed up on two things--my eyes are hazel, and I'm a bit taller."

He looked back at Harry. "Sorry, mate, but it really is brilliant. I'll bet Sirius thought of it."

It was hard to figure out how to respond to the same fact that had been pointed out to Harry by every adult he had ever known. He looked just like his father -- and that obviously didn't go unnoticed by anyone. "The similarities are uncanny, but it's not a prank." He explained with a smile, as though the whole thing was, in fact, a joke. "I'm Harry. Harry Emerson."

"Yeah, nice to meet you, too." He muttered, still staring at Harry. Why did this weird village boy look just like him? The eyes were different though.

Kind of like Lily's. He thought. Lily always came to mind first. I hope our kids have her eyes...

He shook his head, and his earlier conversation with Sirius came to mind. "You aren't an alien shape shifter from the future?"

Harry shook his head easily, writing off the idea of himself being some sort of being from the future as firmly as he could. Like he had told Hermione, it wouldn't do any good for anyone to believe that there was anything peculiar about the future students. No one needed to know the truth. "Of course not, do I look alien-like?" He questioned, figuring that making some sort of half-hearted attempt at a joke was the best thing he could do.

Throughout all of this, Remus had kept tight-lipped and quiet on his bed, though if one bothered to glance his way, they'd immediately recognize the look on his face as the deer-caught-in-the-headlights one.

"Th-that's probably it," he tried to smile naturally, glancing between all the boys within the dorm. "Aren't you always saying how you're meeting new relatives you never even realized you had before, James?"

He looked confused. "I guess so...I did just meet my great-aunt Lucy two weeks ago, and may I just say that giant red bows are not attractive on seventy-eight year old women." James shivered at the very thought.

"But why would I have an identical tenth cousin?" He asked, walking around the room. "In case you haven't noticed, I don't look like any of my relatives except Mom and Dad. You aren't my dad from the past, are you? Because that would be incredibly creepy. Maybe a different dimension...?" He frowned, mentally sorting through (insane) theories.
