FRIDAY THE 13TH: LOCK IN

Friday the 13th! Students wake up amid jokes that today is supposed to be unlucky. No one’s too concerned, until the first person goes to open the door to their cabin. That’s strange, it’s stuck. Soon it becomes clear that the door is sealed. You’re locked in your cabins!

THE RULES

All windows and doors are sealed shut magically. There’s nothing you can do to open them. Please don’t try fire, we don’t want anyone to kill themselves and all their roommates.

All students were in their assigned cabins that night. No exceptions, unless specifically granted one by the mods for having 2 of fewer active characters in the cabin. The only qualifying characters are Nathaniel, Leonardo, Sebastien and Solomon. Sorry, this is just for ease of executing the event.

Staff will realize there’s a problem at 8:00 AM. They are similarly unable to unlock the cabins.

Staff conjure water and simple meals to students for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It’s not the best, but it’ll have to do.

The poop dilemma has been discussed and solved.

At midnight, exactly 24 hours after the cabins first sealed, the doors and windows will magically unlock.

It’s assumed this was another freshman prank, but no culprits are found.

Monthly Bonding Activities for all juniors are cancelled.

SPOOKY EVENT LOTTERY: One cabin will be selected for a creepy event that will take place at 11:00 PM. The requirement to qualify is that your cabin threads be moderately active, and from there we'll use RNG. ~~We will post the event as a comment before the end of 1/13/2017, so that everyone can react to it in the morning.~~ A cabin has been chosen.

It takes Z a few tries to realize the door isn't budging.

She turns to look back at the cabin with a resigned calm, almost as if part of her is perfectly fine with this development, and clears her throat gently to rouse the others.

"Um -- hello. The door's being kind of weird. Anyone. It's not opening."

After a moment, thinking of the coffee she'll miss if she doesn't get out of here, she puts down her bag and takes out her wand.

Ivy's a super light sleeper. Most morning, Zoey getting up and going about her morning routine is enough to rouse her, and today was no different, so she's more-or-less awake by the time Zoey discovers that the door is stuck. She sits up blearily, tousling her hair.

"The door's stuck?" she asks, still groggy enough that her comprehension is not the best. She crawls down from her bed, bringing her blanket with her, wrapping it around her as she shuffles over to the door. "Is it-jammed? Or what?" she asks, giving the handle a good tug of her own. Definitely stuck shut.

Asher pretty much doesn't care about being trapped either. Their cabin is too chill (why are they all so relaxed and behaved??). Because it's too chill, though, he proposes karaoke! After all, Ravi promised him some and Asher figures that now is the perfect time to call in that favor. They can't just study all day. But he assumes they will study most of the day.

"I vote Ravi goes first," Asher says after setting up, kindly putting his friend on the spot.

Elsewhere in the world, desperation has set in. Well, Ravi's not so arrogant as to believe that no one in his cabin is starting to feel a little stir crazy from being trapped indoors, but if anyone is, they're not showing it. It makes prefecting ridiculously easy.

All possible homework and review options have been exhausted, leaving Ravi free to do some leisure reading. He's settled on the cabin's loveseat with a muggle paperback featuring cover art of (fictional) wizards and (fictional) dragons. He doesn't seem to notice anything else that's happening in their cabin.

Though Asher probably wouldn't admit it, he is getting a bit restless. It seemed fine to be stuck inside at first, but now he'd just rather be going about his day as usual, seeing his other friends (even though his roommates are great) and going to class. Still, he does have a decent amount of work he can do right from their cabin, including his Animagus practice. He's been feeling something different recently, but with all the distractions he has a frustratingly hard time focusing in class and capitalizing on this hard-to-pin-down difference. He doesn't assume that now will be much better for his concentration, but he figures it's worth a try since the cabin has settled into its usual quiet self.

It turns out it's definitely worth a try. His focus slowly returns to him as he works and eventually... the Ribbonfin senior boys suddenly have a strange new cat in their room. One which takes off with excitement and jumps onto the table in front of Ravi with slightly less catlike grace than one would expect. It's a rather large grey tabby that immediately meows as it lands, staring expectantly at the reading Ribbonfin.

Rosy thinks there's something in front of their door at first. Maybe there was a storm they missed last night and there's like an entire tree blocking their door? Except she can't even get the door to budge a little, no matter how much she tries. No matter how much she slams her shoulder against the door. Or kicks it. Or yells at it? It's like nothing works.

So she goes to the window, because she is getting out of this cabin some fucking how and at least she can look out and see what's blocking them. But, oh, the window won't move either.

In fact none of the windows will move.

Well fuck this. Where's a bat? Rosy's smashing a damn window in. She'll clean up the mess after, but she is not getting stuck in this cabin today.

"If you don't want the crap scared out of you, wake up now," she says to the rest of the cabin. "I'm breaking a window."

Rosy figures her entire cabin is not going to be happy with studying and doing homework all day. She never really thought it was a viable option for the long term anyways, she just kind of thought they'd have this shit figured out by now. But apparently not.

"All right guys, before our brains actually melt from boredom, anyone want to... I don't know, play some games? Something active and not passive?" She doesn't have any board games with her, but with some magic they could probably get something going. Though... Rosy might not be the best person to play games WITH. Not with these girls. She won't inflict her fun killing competitiveness on these girls. But if they did something with two teams of two, she could reasonably suggest that she run the game. And not ruin everyone's good time. "Any ideas?"

Marilyn is pretty good with idle time, even if she never really had a lot of it growing up. She's far too calm to freak out about much at the very least. Even she has limits, however. It's been a few hours now, and her eyes are starting to hurt from all the reading. She needs a break.

"That sounds fun!" Instantly, Marilyn is on board with the idea. "What about...pictionary? Or something like that?" Even if Chloe has the distinct advantage there, she's always loved pictionary.

Kurt is not a human thing in the morning. For real, he probably wakes up halfway through Charms most Fridays to find out that he's sitting in class, dressed, with his notebook open. And since Holden, Teo, and Ennis all share the class, he just kind of hopes they'll wake him up in time every week.

If anybody wants help opening the door you'll probably want to wake up somebody else.

(Pointless fact! Kurt will have crazy bed head for the entire day unless someone fixes it! His PB is too busy posting photos of his 8-pack and sneakers and barbecues to Instagram to post photos of bedhead, but just look at this volume, remember his eight cowlicks, and let your imagination run wild.)

Ferdie has no reason to even do anything in the morning on Fridays, so he usually takes it as his unofficial Sleep In or Else Get Work Done day. He gets up for the later end of breakfast. He's a little surprised today that everyone is still there when he gets up. He is by far not the first person up today, though, and by the time he is, everyone knows what's going on.

The cabin usually gets on fine, so he won't push activities or anything. But if anyone has fun ideas for games, he'd be open to that!

Unsurprisingly, Milo will not notice anything is amiss until (or unless) one of his roommates alerts him. He's not an early morning person, he's not a runner. He has an alarm set literally 30 minutes before breakfast is set because that's about all the time he needs to get ready. Every second of sleep is precious. More precious than spending hours in the hopes of miraculously looking like Cole (;D)

So, he sleeps in blissful oblivion as the others start figuring out there's an issue.
