A full day passes, and there’s still no sign of Ulysses Quayle. A real panic begins to set in. Everyone does what they can to help.
- Ennis Harper organizes their classmates to try a whole slew of different divination methods to try and guide the search parties. There’s a strong message: they’re in the woods.
- Mrs. Bloom is the substitute teacher for all Defense Against the Dark Arts classes today, as Ms. Lilywhite is searching the school's surrounding area for signs of Dark magic.
- Mr. Thorn organizes seniors in Outdoor Education to lead small search parties. Henrietta Gray finds an article of Ulysses’ clothing not far from his cabin!
- Cameron Carney tries to stay strong, but secretly goes to [Teacher of Choice] to talk about what they’re feeling. The conversation gets emotional.
- Micah St. Clair, Jefferson Key, Estella Morales-Tran and Hazel Keating go to the Grotto with a ouija board to try and contact Anonymous and ask what’s happening, but the only coherent response they get is GO AWAY.
- Late that night, Leonardo Fiori is walking alone when they see someone at a great distance in the forest. Their heart stops for a second, because even this far away, they recognize Ulysses Quayle.
- Leonardo runs through the underbrush, not caring if they’re scratched or bruised as they push through the trees and bushes. Ulysses appears not to see or hear them even as Leo calls their name. It’s not until Leo is mere feet away that they look up, confused and unsure.
- Ulysses is taken to Healer Mufferaw. They’re unhurt, but haven’t eaten and are dehydrated and suffering from hypothermia. Ulysses can’t remember much, besides that they suddenly wanted to go out for a walk, and then got... lost? They had no idea that two whole days passed while wandering, and they can’t retrace their steps or recall where they were.

Two strangers arrive at Gooseberry, and with them come a lot of rumors. What’s clear is that one of them is from the MACUSA DMLE, and the other is from the Magical Forest Service. (Announcement to come introducing these new NPCs.)

The planned Grotto party seems a little more tense than usual after what happened just a couple days earlier. This isn’t a time to cancel, though! It’s a time to bond, and let off some steam.

There’s a mandatory assembly where students are given some very important information about what’s going on with the surrounding forest, and what Gooseberry’s new guests have to say about it. Suffice to say, parents have been sent letters and an official investigation into the surrounding area has begun. (Announcement to come with all the details.)

QUIDDITCH GAME: Azurcrest v. Coppertale
- As a highly anticipated game, tensions are a bit high. [Coppertale Character G] campaigns to get as many people as possible to wear rust orange and black. Micah St. Clair hands out signed photos of the Azurcrest team and its cheerleaders to boost morale. (Half of the photos of the Azurcrest players and cheerleaders involve the subjects in some state of undress—at the discretion of individual characters!)

Rafael Ramirez is taking point organizing a flower delivery service for the school through the Event Committee. Laurel Templeton and Saira Raza have signed on to be his assistants.* For a monetary donation, you can purchase flowers and have them delivered with notes to the recipient of your choice.
Being Rafael’s assistant will not mean you have to do any OOC work, it just means your character might get some bossy wards from Rafael periodically, and they’ll be spending a lot of the days leading up to Valentine’s Day working.

It turns out there’s a very… enthusiastic freshman with a crush on Casper Kim, because they open their locker today and dozens of cards and flowers all from the same person fall out. They continue to find love notes left to them throughout the month.

It’s a Gooseberry tradition to tie a ribbon with the names of yourself and your true love written on it to the branches of the Ornery Oak. A week before Valentine’s Day, all the risk-taking romantics are at it, trying to climb the tree and get their ribbon up there to ensure their love will last. (IC/OOC to come, with plenty of RNG games and broken bones. We know you kids love those.)

Mandatory Sex Ed Assembly! Hm, this is taking place suspiciously close to Valentine’s Day...
- The school is divided into girls and boys, and both groups have to attend separate assemblies all on the topic of SAFE SEX.
- Mufferaw leads the boys’ assembly. He’s gruff and no nonsense, and quick to shut down any boys trying to ham it up or cause trouble. His lesson also includes how to use condoms to light a campfire.
- O’Hare leads the girls’ assembly. It starts out normal enough, but then takes a turn for the nature documentary. She talks a lot about pheromones and uses dragon mating as a metaphor.
- All students are given a Safe Sex Kit, which includes condoms, dental dams, sample packets of lube, wet wipes and breath mints. There’s also an instructional pamphlet about the importance of using protection.
- Mufferaw and O’Hare will open the floor to questions during the assembly. Questions from boys go to Mufferaw, questions from girls go to O’Hare. Please ask your questions HERE, we will pick a few to write out answers to. Remember to keep things PG-13.

In the lodge, some freshmen have posted a pink, glittery list that rates all the couples (and a few pairs who aren’t actually couples?) on a scale of MEANT 2 B to GROSS. Just like last time, the ranking system makes absolutely no sense, and is made of assorted quirky compliments or insults. (Feel free to make up your own!) This particular freshman has decided Marilyn Fairchild and Sybilla Borgin are the power couple of the school… except they’re not actually dating.

- Things go awry when a sweet natured competition is introduced: Mr. Oakes has crafted two beautiful crowns and is ready to hand them out to the sweetest couple. Hightower immediately regrets letting his husband have input.
- Each time your couple does something romantic (a small IC/OOC tag with a new romantic gesture or statement will do—only one gesture per tag), we’ll RNG a number between 1-10 and add it to your cumulative score. Be as sincere or as cheesy as you like as this unnecessarily escalates.

Some freshmen amateur detectives are convinced Casey Patterson is the culprit, and attempt a citizen’s arrest that ends up with a bunch of Coppertale freshmen locking Casey in a closet in the lodge.

Susana pops [racy movie of choice] into the DVD player, and the group settles in for a fun night. All’s going well until Ms. Vector walks in at the worst moment, just as the movie features a gratuitous sex scene with lots of nudity. (Mini IC/OOC to come.)

More and more valuables are disappearing from students all across campus, and staff is forced to do searches of lockers and cabins. Some students have to scramble to hide their stashes of contraband. Quinn Cunningham comes up with a complex system of shifting around their contraband from one cabin to the next so it’s never in the cabin being inspected.
However, the mood changes when Gabriela Flores is in the Grotto and finds a stolen piece of jewelry belonging to Ariadne Flint.

Out of curiosity (or perhaps less admirable motivations), Ivy Templeton decides to try to analyze and recreate Calderon-Boot’s Anonymity Charm for the Masquerade. They hope to learn it themselves, or at least get it to activate early. The results are disastrous, as their mask proceeds to catch fire and produce tons of gross-smelling smoke. Unfortunately(?), the charm is simply too complex for anyone but Mr. C-B to comprehend.

The Masquerade Ball! Although Valentine romance is still on some people’s minds, this lavish dance has a Mardi Gras theme. Everyone will be wearing masks, so their identities are disguised! With the help of a little magic, the capacity for anonymity goes well beyond covering your face.
- The charm activates the night of the dance, just as the clock strikes 7:00 PM, and only within the confines of the lodge and the immediate surrounding area. If students don’t have a charmed mask of their own, a simple domino will be issued to them before the dance.
- Anyone wearing a charmed mask becomes unrecognizable to those looking at them. You might have known a person by their voice, height, hair, skin, or lips, but now suddenly… you aren’t certain. This could be anyone.
- This effectively means that you can’t guess the identity of an individual by their physical traits. However, you might recognize them either from their speech patterns, or something they tell you.
- It’s easier to recognize people by their masks, but if you want your character to struggle with this as well, you may. This means you might be at risk of losing track of your date if you come as a couple. This is up to individual players.
- Mr. Calderon-Boot has the power to take the charm away, though, so if you act in a truly horrendous manner or break a rule, you could still get caught. Not to mention that a lot of people will remember if the guy in the blue domino mask was being a total dick all night, and someone might later see it amongst your possessions.
- If you leave the dance, the charm deactivates until you return.
- The charm immediately ends at the stroke of midnight, Cinderella. So either leave the dance by then, or stand around with everyone else to unmask and see who you’ve been talking to!

Solomon Webb makes a disturbing discovery: all of the gifts that people have been leaving for Anonymous over the months (including those from Laurel Templeton, Cressida Quayle, Chloe Shepherd, Ennis Harper and Cole Moss) have been left in pieces in the middle of the Grotto. The items have all been torn, broken or otherwise destroyed, and arranged together as though they were intended to be found.
