Who: Jessica, Sam, (NPC!Nick, Jamie)
What: Finishing the list
Where: School
When: Before lunch
Rating: PG-13
If Jessica had been feeling confident in herself before, she wasn't now. She had made it through her first half of classes with a jacket on to cover up the violation of dress code. For one thing, she hadn't wanted to deal with Mrs. Tibbits. For another thing, she had to make it through the day to get to this point. She didn't think she'd be able to suck it up and do it again tomorrow if she didn't make it today.
Standing awkwardly at the side of the courtyard where she knew Nick would be walking and where she had asked Sam to meet her, she was beginning to seriously reconsider this entire exercise. People had been eyeing her skirt strangely all day. It had passed dress code, only just, but she knew the low cut top would not, and kissing a boy she was only acquainted with was sure to attract a crowd. Jessica generally didn't mind being the center of attention, though she rarely sought it out, but this was a sort of attention she wasn't ready for.
Nick appeared, holding the anonymous note she'd sent asking to be outside, glancing around curiously. Jessica sucked in a deep breath, fingers curling nervously inside of her jacket pockets. Sam wasn't here. Jamie wasn't even here. Maybe this was a sign. Maybe this was a terrible, awful, horrendous idea. Maybe the entire list had been.
But no, she knew that wasn't true. Making a completing this list had been some of the best fun she'd had in her eighteen years. These were the only two things she had left to complete it and feel like she'd genuinely accomplished something. How could she possibly just let it sit as is after all the work she'd already put into it. Nick was starting to look antsy, and Jessica knew she couldn't wait any longer. Her hand reached for the zipper of her jacket and pulled it down to reveal more cleavage than Jessica had ever shown, most likely far more than anyone ever realized she had, and slid the coat down her arms as she started her 'approach'.
She could do this without Sam. Maybe. If she made herself keep breathing and managed not to look like a scared kitten while she walked.
She realized Nick was staring at her (along with plenty of other students), and her gaze met his for a moment, only to realize there was a familiar pair of figures behind him. Sam and Jamie. Oh, thank God.
