If there was one thing Steve was good at - it was finding any little task he could to avoid something when he wanted to. Help Caroline out, go a few rounds in the gym with Sara, talk to Barry, find any job that needed to be done and do it. If there was one thing Natasha was good at - it was calling him on it. And she was far better at her end than he was at his. He'd been expecting it really. He'd barely been at the house and aside from a couple hours he'd grabbed on one of the couches in the community center she was more than right in her assessment that he hadn't slept. He had held onto some vague hope that he'd figure out where his head even was at before she called him on it. But it'd been just that, vague hope. Natasha knew him better than - well, anyone really. Even with all the time that had passed, for him at least, that remained a constant. And while it was something he had missed, had wanted back for so long, it was something he wasn't sure how to deal with anymore. Another thing a long list of things he wasn't sure how to deal with anymore. He made it in four minutes - he wasn't about to push his luck on the five minutes it would have taken at a walk but he wanted to be at least a little bit of an ass about it none the less. He walked into the living room to find her sitting on the couch. Steve debated lingering in the doorway but figured that would last about all of five seconds if she had her way, so he moved into the room and sunk down onto the couch beside her. "I got lazy on the last minute," he offered in explanation for his four minutes instead of three. Steve glanced at her for a moment and then let his head fall back against the back of the couch. |
