Michael wasn't a stranger to organising parties at his parents. He'd always loved the outdoors but not all of his friends agreed. So he had a nice fire pit to keep everyone warm. Spells to light a path from where they were sitting to the house. There was a table with foods and drinks. With his trips to the Muggle world, he'd learned about folding chairs, especially the reclining camping ones and now his parents proudly owned (and never used) a dozen of them, which Michael had brought out and set in a circle around the fire with blankets in case anyone got cold. He waited for everyone to arrive before really saying anything other than to joke around with people, Therion always at this side.
"All right, so before we get to the fun part of the evening which includes drinking and bitching about the world at large, lets get the important things out of the way. Zach is in France so he's not here for that reason. As Luna pointed out, the Ministry and the Order probably had very 'important' meetings where they decided for the safety of human kind. Yes, I know, we all feel very much reassured," he added with a wink at Parvati.
"This is our not so important meeting to decide a couple of things, and before I start, let me say that this isn't a recruiting pitch. Some might not want to fight," he said, staring at Zach. "That's fine too. We just need to know. First, we don't know if this is serious. It's been one message so it might not lead to much. That's the easy solution. If it does lead to fighting, then we need to decide a) if we want to fight. b) If the order asks if we want to join them. c) When do we fight. Finally do we want to work with the order and not for them if the situation arises."
He looked around the circle. "My feeling is that if civilians get hurt, then yes I want to help, especially if there are kids involved. We know how much the power that be care about the kids at Hogwarts. I can never trust the order to join the Order. We don't even know what that is with Shacklebolt Minister and part of it, the mixing of the two is just scary in ways that aren't good. However, I do believe that we might on occasions, very few and limited, have to coordinate. We worked well with Aberforth, maybe we can find some compromise, although we're have to see what the 'Ministry' stance is on the Order, because if Shacklebolt starts saying that they aren't authorised to do anything, then you know that he will cover for them and go after us. As to when we get involved, I'd say when civilians and children are attacked. Major events like quidditch games, attacks on institutions will have to be left to the Ministry, since we wouldn't have the resources. Now the floor is yours and then we can have fun."
He sat down and so did Therion. "Oh, one more thing. We still haven't decided what to do with Mandy, Hermione and Ron. So thought on one or all three are welcome."
