Her father couldn't forgive her for going behind his back. He in fact rubbed it in her nose every chance he could once she woke back up. He just didn't understand that she loved Simon. He wouldn't let it go.

Rachel had been wrong for sneaking behind her father's back, but when you were in love, you did stupid crazy things. It was just how things worked, at least she hadn't gone and had sex. She probably could have, but she wanted to wait. Wanted it to be just the right moment, that moment never came.

Her father had a strict policy on forgiveness. Go behind his back and do something and you'd never be forgiven. He couldn't even forgive his own daughter, and he never would. Instead he would treat her with no feelings, no love. Just the harsh hand and words that her mother had at one time suffered.
