There was one guy in particular though that seemed to at least have a sense of humor about the whole thing, even if he looked like he was trying out for some sort of Justice League reject club in that ridiculous costume of his. Steve had yet to see the dude out of costume, and was honestly starting to get curious about why he never seemed to remove it. Perhaps it was because he liked to keep that mysterious weirdo persona. Steve could almost respect that, even if he thought it was stupid.
One thing that did feel somewhat familiar to him, however, was the constant pranks that everyone was playing on each other around here. He'd thought about pranking Hopper, but the guy had been through enough lately, which meant the masked weirdo it was. So for his team's sake, he'd done his best with the hairspray he could find around and was making his way towards the front desk at the hotel where they'd all been thrown into.
"So, hey, how're you?" he asked, glancing at the receptionist. She ignored him for a moment, but eventually his obnoxious smile got her attention enough that she looked up from her book, and Steve realized he wasn't going to be able to flirt his way through this one. Which was a shame, because he really hadn't had a lot of situations to practice lately and she was kind of cute. "I'm new in town, and it's just that...oh wow, we have the same name." That was weird, but she was also pretending to listen to him now and he was feeling a lot of pressure. "Look, I'm going to be real with you--"
"I'm so glad," Stevie told him with an incredibly fake smile, which he tried to ignore as he continued.
"--I've been sleeping in entirely too much lately. Beauty sleep and all that." He winked, god why had he winked, because now her smile was even more ridiculous and he felt incredibly stupid because this was not at all like being back home. She was definitely mocking him in silence, but he couldn't back out now, people were depending on him! "Just, can you set a wake up call for me please?"
"Gladly," she replied, sounding almost cheerful about the idea, but her eyes were dead and judging him.
"Right," Steve commented, not sure he trusted that look. "Room 13," he told her. "Which is my room, of course."
"Uh huh," she added, tone still artificially cheerful.
"I was thinking, like 3AM? 2AM if that's not a problem or anything?" Steve asked her.
There was a long pause where she seemed to consider his request--long enough that Steve had opened his mouth to reply before she was finally commenting sarcastically, "So, 3am wake up call for your room."
"Yes!" Steve exclaimed, glad she'd agreed, and her reaction was almost startled but amused. "Yes, thank you!"
"Sure thing!" Stevie replied with over-enthusiasm, rolling her eyes and mouthing 'oh my god,' to herself as he turned and left the place. These people were getting less and less subtle, and she was living for it.
