Why do you rub me up the wrong way? Why do you say the things that you say?

Audrey had been a little shocked when the two showed up on her doorstep. The blonde had been expecting Sky, but not to bring in tow her best friend. As to not cause issues in the front of The Sapphire, Audrey was very quick to usher the two inside and up to the attic. With the door closed behind, Audrey let out a sigh and raised her eyebrow at the pair. This couldn’t be good. “I’m going to take a deep breath, pour myself some mead, and then you can tell me what happened.” She did as she told them. Audrey breathed in deeply and exhaled, reached for a bottle from her makeshift, machina powered fridge and took a swig of her beer. Sitting down on her bed, she looked up at the two. “What happened?”
Ari was still quite amused by the circumstances that had brought her here, though her amusement was tempered somewhat by the fact that the kid had kept her from getting her ice cream.
Well, she’d gotten a cookie at least.
“Sorry,” she said. “I promised to hand-deliver your apprentice.” At least his probationary period was over. “He’ll tell you what happened himself.”
Sky resisted rolling his eyes. "It's not that bad," he muttered. When he opened his mouth to begin to explain, a feeling of dread fell on his head and shoulders as he realized he didn't even know where to start. I have a twin brother and we've switched places a few times and we just got caught by some guy in the Fighters Guild who's beaten my ass a couple of times and you know those days where I've sucked? Yeah, my twin, didn't seem like the best way to explain the situation.
Well, then again, maybe Audrey wouldn't get too angry.
"Soooo..." he began slowly. "I, um. Well. I have a twin brother? His name is Pyr--" Not Melvin, just like I'm not Herbert. "--and he's in the Fighters Guild. Well... we, um. Sort of traded places. Twice." That was their official story and Sky was going to stick to it. "And we got caught by one of Pyr's..." Teachers? Teachers. "... teachers. Not that we were trading places today or anything and it's not like anyone got hurt, but he seemed angry about finding it. I don't know. I think it's stupid."
There.
“Oh.”
That was all Audrey said. She took one sip of her beer and set it down-- eyes never landing on Sky. Pulling out her communicator she looked down at it then swiftly began to write a message to someone. Her attention never left the machine, completely ignoring the two guests she had led into her room. For several minutes it was as if though they didn’t even exist. Her only reactions were to whoever was at the end of her messages. A smile formed at the corner of her lips, chuckling softly before looking up. A sort of shock overcame her, as though she had completely forgotten about the two. “Oh, I’m sorry. You’re dismissed for today.” Again, she avoided acknowledging his existence and went back to her communicator.
Ari considered intervening, thought better of it. Not her apprentice, not her problem. “So,” she said lightly, ignoring Sky as well, “don’t forget - I’ve some dresses for you to try on tomorrow. We’ll still need a mask, but that can come later. I think I’ve found just the thing, but we’ll have to try it before I’m certain of it.” She sighed, said mournfully, “Or, I suppose, you can come with me today. My ice cream and… other plans for the evening have been spoiled by discipline.” She wrinkled her nose as if to show what she thought of that. “I still have wine, though.”
Wine and ice cream had been more than enough to pull her away from the communicator. “Dear, why not both?” Sliding her communicator back into her pocket, Audrey was very quick to get up. She walked past Sky as if the child hadn’t even been standing there. Her arm extended and wrapped around her best friend’s shoulders as she led her away. “Ooh, really? What color is it? I’m excited to try it on. We could have a girl’s day! Today has just taken a turn for the better. Why don’t we go?”
There was a pause right before she reached the door.
Looking back at the boy, Audrey scoffed. “Don’t touch anything in my bedroom. If you do, I will know. Also, if you choose to stay here, heed my words well: The people who own this brothel will end you. They are not the sort to be trifled with. And if you do anything as much as interfere with their business, they will string you up and put your head on a spit and make it look like an accident. You have been warned.” A grin shined on her face. “Have a nice day!”
Sky was unfamiliar with the feeling that fell over him, and it shocked him into complacency when both women ignored him so blatantly. All Sky knew was that his stomach churned with it, and it made him feel awful.
He bowed his head and made his way to the door behind the women. HIs eyes didn't leave the floorboards, though he paused as he passed Audrey. "Sorry," he mumbled, finally leaving the room and, eventually, the building.
No punishment but somehow this was way worse than anything Sky had expected.
