[news update]
[Some time after the lindworm appeared on the strip, a piece of chaos set into motion at the same time finally comes to fruition. A frantic 911 call is made by a nurse at a local hospital, who claims that something big burst out of the morgue and threw itself outside through a window after attacking a hapless lab attendant. Soon after, another one appeared in the same hallway, and she thinks - but she's hysterical, and can barely link her words together - she thinks the second one was the lab attendant.
Minutes later, two Draugr are making their way toward the strip, where there is the highest concentration of potential victims. They are massive, twice the size of a man and many times as strong. Their bodies are a swollen mockery of the dead, their skin thick and dark blue, their rolling eyes yellow and decayed. They smell of death and rot, and the sight of them is so terrible as to drive weak minds to madness. But these are not zombies - the creatures can speak, and do, taunting and calling to their prey in voices like the cold wind howling low through a barrow. They posses a wicked intelligence. They seek to create torment, and to kill. Normally they would also seek to eat their victims, but not these, no, these seem to be operating under special orders simply to attack. Their victims, if they come into contact with the Draugr's claws or teeth, rise as Draugr themselves within minutes, though many of the injuries ought not to be fatal on their own. It seems these Draugr are not necessarily dead, and might even be returned to their former state, which should make it all the harder to stem the tide by killing them.
It's a plague meant to play on the sympathies as it ravages, designed to trip up good-hearted heroes with moral dilemmas. It is designed to make the man with the sword hesitate long enough to let the creatures spread like wildfire.]
