Who: Tony and Miranda
When: Evening, Friday August 13th
Where: Outside Miranda's apartment to start
Warning: Gets a little hot and heavy but not NSFW
Tony had been pondering the whole summer about asking Miranda out. He hadn't been sure how to do it or what to say, or whether or not he thought he could take the rejection. He hoped that she wouldn't say no, but in order to find out, he'd have to ask. He stood outside her room pacing back and forth for at least fifteen minutes. The
flowers he'd gotten her in his hand. "What if she doesn't like sunflowers?" he asked himself more than once in the time he was outside her place. If she didn't like them, that could just ruin everything. But what if she did like them? Would her face light up and would she smile? Would her eyes crinkle up just a little bit in the corners like they did when she was happy? God he hoped so. Letting out a little breath, he reached up and knocked on her door. There was no taking it back now. He couldn't just run away after he'd already knocked. "Maybe she's not even home..." he said, a frown taking over his face. "Maybe I should leave..."
Miranda was in fact not home. But, having just come back from her volunteering, she was in mildly cheerful spirits. One of the children, Lena, whom she'd been worried about, was on the mend, the chemo helping her greatly. And the young woman was already smiling when she walked down the hall. Tony was standing outside her door, which wasn't all that unusual. But it was definitely welcome. What was unusual were the flowers in his hand and the fact that he was muttering to himself. "Tony?" she said as she approached, keys in hand. "Are you looking for me?" God, she hoped so. He looked very attractive in his jeans. The layered look worked for him. And she got a better look at the flowers. Sunflowers. They'd always been her favorite and she grinned a little more, looking up at him.
( I would have said yes weeks ago, love. But I'm glad you asked. )
