Hangeng is your average guy. Literally. Having been raised in a Chinese family of three kids in Chinatown, NY, where oldest and youngest seem to have both some sort of weird ability (of which he's been keeping secrets from his parents until it stopped being fun and got bothersome instead), he's the middle one without any strange or out of the ordinary traits at all. Or that's what he thinks at least. With the curious power of levitation, well, it's not every day he feels insane enough to try hopping off the floor to see whether he'll stick around somewhere above the floor. As far as he thinks, none of that odd ability gen that hit his brothers has had any effect on him.
So he's stuck with being the middle one. Hangeng's not dumb like his youngest brother who yet has such an amazing sense of convincing people that it's so obvious it's unnatural that he wondered why their parents never saw. But he's not smart either, like his older brother who can copy voices fully identically - and signatures, alike.
In fact, Hangeng gets by with hard work. His parents never had the money to put a second son into university, and so unlike his older brother who gets pampered completely, and his youngest who's doted on just for being chubby - and convincing - he's never been able to depend on any funds to assure a decently educated future. So like most of his community in Chinatown he still lives with his parents and grandparents on the same floor of a rundown flat. The only privacy he has is the fact that ever since his brother moved out for campus he's technically considered the oldest son and for that got a decent-sized room of his own.
Hangeng doesn't have much of a life story. He's tried hard to be good at studying, but he doesn't excel. He enjoys nights out on the basketball court and sports in general, and he's become decent in Italian from having his window open at night and listening to the noise of couples quarreling and restaurant employees trying to lure people in with loud words. He collects comic books on the side, and he studies various courses in night classes to at least get by and have something on his resume other than helping his parents out in their curio shop. He used to dream of making it big. Now, he just wants to do something he likes doing. Unfortunately for him, what exactly that is he hasn't quite figured out himself yet.
Oh, and he's got a Mexican water salamander he pretty much entrusts just about everything to.
