It felt like a very long day, but honestly, every day felt terribly long lately. If she had her choice, Daryn would prefer to spend more time with her daughter. But she still had responsibilities and she couldn't very well abandon those things to try to make up for lost time with Phoenix. There really wasn't a way to make up for that anyway, so she did her best to just try to make everything as close to perfect for the little girl as possible on the Island. Closing up the clinic at the end of the day, she suppressed a yawn and headed to the safe house that had become a reluctant, second home for the last month or so. Hoping to enjoy a quiet, pleasant evening, she started on the short walk away from the Marketplace.

summary: Back to life

After her outburst two weeks ago, Hannah had effectively disappeared. Her shifts in security were assigned to others temporarily, her bed in the barracks was empty, and she had not been seen or heard from by anyone. The few who noticed whispered about her absence, others outright said that she was likely dead for acting out. But then, on Friday morning, she appeared, walking out of the barracks and heading to the coffeeshop as she had done every other morning to begin her work day. Standing in line to place her order, she stared straight ahead and waited In silence, that usual light behind her eyes completely dead. When it was her turn, she stepped forward and placed an order for her usual, her voice strangely flat and monotone. She stepped aside and waited in awkward stillness.
