Oh, shit. He was in SO much trouble. He didn’t often hear his mother give a sigh like that, but when he did, it usually meant that he had really let her down. That was what he had been trying to not let happen. Shit.
Hermod quickly went over to Frigg and sat near her by the fire. He should have brought Vidar with him. He was sure that Vidar had to be in trouble to for keeping his romance with Lottie a secret. No, he had decided not to try to dodge any responsibility by dragging his brother into this. Hermod had known the risk in not telling his family about Bast. He hoped his mother would understand once he explained the reasons.
“I’m sorry, Mother,” he said with total sincerity. He never set out to hurt her. “I hope you can understand why I didn’t tell you about my…. Well, my girlfriend. See, Bast is really insecure about us. Don’t tell her I told you that. And I was afraid she would run off again if I made her come to one of our family dinners. She would have been more terrified if I had brought her to see you alone. She might have a few issues with approval and abandonment. Don’t tell her that either.”
He was ruining it. He always screwed up when he tried to explain things. Odin knows he did that all the time with Bast. There was only one real thing that mattered in his opinion.
