She wanted water? Okay. Then she'd get water. Kratos filled a glass and set it close enough for her to pick up when she was ready. That accomplished, he turned his attention toward finding her something salty. Like crackers? Crackers might be good.
As he rooted through her pantry to locate something that would satisfy her, Kratos pondered what to say next. There was a lot to discuss. A lot. But he had the impression that most of it was still off limits for the time being. She was sort of raw around the edges, and the last thing he wanted to do was to upset Ninkasi again.
Plus there was that whole firm foundation thing he was trying to build. Which didn't seem to be going as smoothly as he'd hoped when he told her they were okay. Things felt... off. And Kratos hated that feeling. It reminded him far too much of when he'd lost a year of her company because neither of them were willing to say what was on their minds.
Would that be better? Would just asking outright be better than tiptoeing around it? It was the elephant in the room, but again, he didn't know how much it would bother her to discuss it. He didn't know how to approach the topic at all, honestly. And if he was really being truthful, he wasn't entirely sure he wanted to right now either. He wasn't so great mentally and emotionally right at the moment, and how could he be there for her if he was off balance?
Turning back around, a box of crackers in his hand, he stared at her, still undecided about whether to bring things up or not. Maybe just... ease around it, and see what she said? Would that work?
"I just thought maybe rest would be good after," he paused, swallowing. "Well after. That can take a lot out of somebody even if they're not injured."
