Hera's lips parted as she began to tell Zelos that he'd misunderstood. But he simply kept going, and her curiosity let him continue. Just what did he think she was going to put him through? By the time he'd gotten to dragons, one brow had risen in a classic look that most would recognize. And likely back away from. But when he added in the stables, Hera could not prevent the quick bark of laughter that escaped.
She very quickly got herself back under control, stifling the laughter and settling instead for a close-lipped smile. Because she was rather amused. However, he was terribly off base, and therefore would need some correction to point him in the right direction.
"No, darling, " she told him kindly, though not terribly gently. "It's not me that you need to convince. And I don't think deeds of daring are going to do the trick either." Hera shook her head. "Think, Zelos. Think."
There was a small sigh, a not so small sip of her martini, and then she continued. "You have built your reputation by your actions. It can only be undone by actions. Therefore, you must do the opposite of what you've already done. As you have created your persona of a bed-hopping man-whore by, well, hopping from bed to bed, in order to correct that impression, what do you think would be the best course of action?"
She could, of course, simply tell him what he needed to do. But she'd always found that men were much easier to manipulate if they thought they had some control in the outcome. Even better if they thought it was their idea to begin with.
Besides, it was just plain fun to watch his poor little face wrinkle up in confusion. Why had she not spent more time with the children of Styx? They were really quite amusing.
