Trends in Belief

LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]dagoski) "As the nation’s culture changes in diverse ways, one of the most significant shifts is the declining reputation of Christianity, especially among young Americans. A new study by The Barna Group conducted among 16- to 29-year-olds shows that a new generation is more skeptical of and resistant to Christianity than were people of the same age just a decade ago."

This study is from the Barna Group.  I know nothing about them and have been able to find little out about them on the web aside from what's on their web site.  Anyone know anything about this group?  One of the reasons cited for the growing skepticism is the connection between Christianity and politics, what we'd call Dominionism around here.  Also, this press release is basically a plug for the Barna Group's new book UnChristian, so beware of research with an agenda.  Nonetheless, if their research methods are sound, they've uncovered a trend that'll dramatically reshape the politics and culture of the US.
