Religious Right Leader Dobson Blasts Thompson – Again

[...] Focus on the Family founder James C. Dobson has made it clear once again that he does not think much of the presidential candidacy of former Tennessee senator Fred Thompson.

Earlier this year, Dobson questioned Thompson’s Christian bona fides, saying, “I don’t think he’s a Christian; at least that’s my impression.” (Thompson is a member of the Church of Christ.)

Now, the Associated Press has reported that Dobson has dissed Thompson yet again. The AP obtained a private Dobson e-mail in which the FOF chief writes, “Isn’t Thompson the candidate who is opposed to a Constitutional amendment to protect marriage, believes there should be 50 different definitions of marriage in the U.S., favors McCain-Feingold, won’t talk at all about what he believes, and can’t speak his way out of a paper bag on the campaign trail?”

Continued Dobson, “He has no passion, no zeal, and no apparent ‘want to.’ And yet he is apparently the Great Hope that burns in the breasts of many conservative Christians? Well, not for me, my brothers. Not for me!” [...]

The schism with regards to which presidential candidate to support seems to be growing. As others have noted previously, that's probably a good thing for us.
