LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]aycelcus) I spent the better part of last night scrolling through the entries and clicking links, having not looked at this comm since Strikethrough (where most of the posts weren't but indirectly related to Dominionism, so I really didn't get it...)

It reminded me of this creepy church I used to drive past in Georgia. It was in a retrofitted bowling alley or theatre, I think, and was called the Crusade Dominion Church. Me and my friends did not know the significance of the word Dominion at the time, but we all agreed that anything with the word "Crusade" or any form of the word "dominate" was scary. However, the sign they had posted outside was what really got my attention:

Sunday Services:                             10 am
Wednesday Night Services:           6 pm
Sunday Night Training:                    7 pm

Yes, training. We all wondered, training for what? Then someone would turn to me jokingly and say: "why don't you go in and check it out?"
Yes, let's send the pagan in the Harry Potter shirt and the winter cloak, on her way to help out with the Book Six party her local bookstore was throwing. Yeah, no.

But we always wondered.

Also, an ex of mine used to go to a church not far from there called Church in the Now, which totally looks like a Dave and Buster's, God Edition, from the road. She told me that they would often lock the doors and not let anyone leave until it was determined that they had all tithed at least the proper amount.
