2004 Texas GOP Platform

LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]sasha_pervaya)

Hello! I've only surfed over here a couple of times, I'm not even sure that I qualify as a lurker. But I read my state's GOP platform for 2004 today, and I had to join, post and see what you guys make of it.

According to the platform, "The Republican Party of Texas affirms the United States of America is a Christian Nation ..." and furthermore, "pledges to exert its influence to restore the original intent of the First Amendment of the United States Constitution and dispel the myth of the separation of Church and State."

Read the platform here (link leads to the preamble, and a link to the full platform in PDF format), and theocracywatch.org's comparison of it to Dominion Theology here. Both are interesting reads. The platform is so extreme that even I (born and raised right here in Texas) am amazed. I'm still not entirely sure what to make of theocracywatch.org's analysis, but the comparisons are interesting.
