Christian Internet?

LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]swisscelt)

A Christian group is trying to shut down Landover Baptist. That in itself is not surprising- disagreeable, perhaps, but not surprising. What is surprising is their rationale in attempting this:

The Internet was created by the United States of America - a Christian nation [ref. 1, 2, 3] - and should not be used to spread anti-Christian, secular, or non-Christian propaganda and hatespeech. This is our Internet, and we should exercise our position as its owners and as the guardians of civilization to stop its misuse.

It's particularly interesting that the "references" point one not to any work of historical scholarship, but to other websites which also declare that the United States is a "Christian nation". It's as though they are saying, "Coca-Cola used to have cocaine in it. I know, because my buddy Frank told me." Also, what's up with the folks depicted at the top of the page in reference #2? They look about ready to slap somebody.

Here's your link to the group's web page: http://objective.jesussave.us/shutdown.html
