call to action for true religious freedom

LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]enlightened77)

There is work to do.

Some of you may have heard about the incident in the Senate House in which a Hindu chaplain opened session with a Hindu prayer, and the Religious Right has protested and caused a big(oted) scene, making a mockery of the religious freedom in this country that has been our shining beacon since our foundation....

Your state senators and representatives are currently receiving a lot of calls from more Religious Right folk complaining about the Hindu prayer.

So very few calls have been made with the contrasting, enlightened view.

PLEASE take a moment to look up your Senator's information (and Rep if you're ambitious) and THANK THEM for including a Hindu prayer from the Hindu chaplain from Arizona because you believe in religious liberty for people of ALL FAITHS (and none) and think that we should represent our diversity and not promote only one religious view.

I'm going to go one step further and request that more diverse religious prayers and philosophical readings be added to the schedule in the sessions to come, to include Pagan/Wiccan, Native American, Buddhist, Shinto, etc, prayers as well.

It only takes a few minutes. This is important and easy to do.

Protest the Protesters of religious freedom.
