Cut and Run

LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]nebris)

From Slacktivist
May 10, 2007

A few months back I posted an excerpt from E.F. Schumacher's Small Is Beautiful so that I would be able to link back to it from time to time.

This is one of those times. That excerpt concludes:

... if it is taken for granted that education is a passport to privilege, then the content of education will not primarily be something to serve the people, but something to serve ourselves, the educated. The privileged minority will wish to be educated in a manner that sets them apart and will inevitably learn and teach the wrong things, that is to say, things that do set them apart. ...

Mall Missionaries

Wendy Tullar was once a shopper who succumbed to Secular Consumerism until the Light of Jesus showed her the way to Salvation. She now works as a Consumer Rehabilitator and Mall Missionary for Fellowship Baptist.

Hey, what happened to the tag sidebar?

LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]einatlanta)

I just took the tag sidebar off the main page. Don't worry; tags are still on entries if we've put tags on. The page was taking a really long time to load (as [info]alobar pointed out) because of all the tagging I've been doing. I am now moving the tag index over to the wiki. This may not be fully operational again until Monday afternoon; I will update this entry when I finish.

Please pardon the construction dust while cataloging continues. If you disagree with this decision, please let me know!

The cult

LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]kalima62)

I've referenced the cult a few times in the past year or so and I forgot that no one here knows what I'm talking about.

That was the cult. That was slavery, and praise God, I'm free. May God judge me severely if I ever go back into it again.
